Prices will continue to drop though as the 5800x has high margins for AMD, and Intels Alder Lake-s (desktop) with up to 16 cores (big little) will be launching in 4 months. And Zen 4 is slated for holiday 2022. So AMD's only option is price cuts, and their limited sku (likely 5950x and 5900x only) 3D vcache released next year.

The prices will not continue to drop lol, there's a chip shortage, not in the best interest for AMD to massively discount their CPUs. The reason for the drop is that AMD wants to be more competitive with the 11700k Intel CPU that also offers good value. Previously, the 5800x was AMD's worst value since it was a $150 upgrade + cooler cost from the 5600x. Now it seems more reasonable.

Wouldn't matter. Prime day is in a week. If Amazon's price drops, no reason you couldn't price adjust or order new one and return the old.

This or i9 10850k for $320. I live near microcenter tustin. I have a 8700k it runs fine but I feel kinda bad I have a ryzen 9 5900hs laptop that runs circles around my cpu. I want to upgrade for cheap i'll sell of my 8700k
