No, it won't. You first need a Wi-fi 6 capable router. And people here exaggerate Wi-Fi 6 a lot. For normal hone usage, a dual band Wi-Fi AC router is more than enough.
Anyway, for you, I will recommend to get a dual band 5 GHz router and they're pretty cheap, you can grab one within $20 bucks if you look for deals.
I have a dual-band router on-hand, but they say the combo box they provide with router and cable modem combined in it is has to be what I use to get both internet and cable TV.
I was just wondering if hooking one of mine inline would help to make 5 GHz channel available on my applicable wifi devices or if that is not something feasible. Like just hooking mine into one of the unused ports of theirs and set up a separate network ssid/pw for when I want to use the 5 GHz band on devices that can benefit.

Also maybe to help the range as well for the 2.4 GHz band that I know the router I have put away can do better than the cable company's box.

Why wouldn't I order this from Asus store for $579? $20 less, Free 1 year accidental damage. ASUS VivoBook 15 M515 Thin and Light Laptop 15.6" FHD Display AMD Ryzen 5 5500U 16GB DDR4 RAM 512GB ... [asus.com]
Because it is out of stock there and they are not letting you order it in the first place...how about that for a starter?

You can just connect the dual band router with the existing cable modem using a Gigabit Ethernet Cable and configure it with a separate name and SSID and you will be all set.

Thanks for the info.
Sadly, our cable provider (Cincinnati Bell) does not have a newer or better router/cable box combo. We no longer have an option to provide our own sep router for their internet.

With so many channels beginning to stream their own shows with subscription service, leaving cable doesn't do much good. Still have to pay for internet from someone and more and more subscriptions as time goes by which makes cost about the same or more as getting both services bundled. We already use Netflix and have Prime, and the latest $2.19 per month Hulu deal in effect. /rant
Stay with cable if you prefer, but I cut my bill by over $100/month by going streaming. Got my best deal from ATT 1 Gybt. Old Cable provider charged for everything imaginable. Even with add-ons like Netflix,Amazon Prime, ATT streaming, and numerous free movie and sports channels etc, still came out much better. And that's with service to 4 tv's, which would increase the cost for cable service dramatically.
Choose wisely...

It didn't work out. I tried piggybacking into my router from one of the outputs on the cable company's router, but the ssid failed to show up. Next I tried to direct wire the RJ45 that normally goes into their router into only my router. My router's ssid still never showed up on my wireless network options to log into either way. Next I tried to go to its config page since I would want to try to change its ssid. I couldn't get to its IP address config page either. I gave up. I may have a Cinci Bell tech come out to help work something out or talk to them about it at least. I get sick of losing connection in the other room while streaming Netflix or Prime.
