I would recommend the Jamo S 803 5.0 kit from amazon/adorama for $229 over this. Much larger drivers and Jamo is a Klipsch company. Just look at some of the reviews on YouTube and you will see it is a big step up for the same price range

I am making some assumptions on these, but they appear to be a successor to the Quintet series from Klipsch. Good overall sound, but very lean on bass extension. I think most people probably draw that conclusion given the size, but wanted to make sure it was said regardless. If I were to guess I'd bet the frequency response on these maybe goes to 100Hz. You'll need to cross your subwoofer pretty high which will probably make for directional bass response and possible gaps in your bass extension as it crosses over between the satellites and the sub.

Other things of note, because it always seems to get asked, you will need an A/V Receiver for these. They aren't powered. These are highly efficient speakers, though, so you don't need a ton of power or any top of the line receiver to get excellent performance out of them. I had some of the Quintets (maybe series 3?) that I used when I was cramped for space. I didn't use the center channel, so I can't speak to its performance, but the satellites put out good sound for their size. I hooked up the center channel and listened to it, but ultimately used a DIY center that I built into my entertainment console.

Overall, this is a solid deal, but just know going in that you also need a receiver, and you'll definitely want to add a sub very quickly. Very good price on a very well reviewed Home Theater in a Box set. At least I think this mostly qualifies for HTIB even considering the lack of a sub.

Still need a subwoofer for this set and holy cow look at the wiring jobs from the customer reviews. Do people not know how to hide wires?

Would this be an upgrade to the Logitech Z5500 satellites?

Link to this deal por favor? (I see this for $229 in white on Amazon but not in walnut or black).

The Klipsch reference theater pack is much, much better and includes the wireless reference sub for $299 regularly. It'll be that price at adorama and Costco to complete with prime day without a doubt. This set offered here is a Best Buy exclusive and just a new version of the quintet series from Klipsch, which is junk.

The quintet series was highly regarded in the satellite speakers world, calling them junk is a bit harsh IMO. I'm not sure how you concluded the klipsch reference theater pack is much better, other than it's got a subwoofer. The size and spec of the speakers look pretty similar to me.

I just briefly checked on my phone and I think you might be right that it is just the white set right now. $229 or $199 is a regular sale for that kit though. I would recommend setting some price alerts and it will probably pop back up soon.

These are identical and unchanged from the Quintet IV. I have them in my bedroom system powered by a Sony DH520 AVR (all from Goodwill) along with a Dayton SUB120. I do have to crossover at 120hz but, possibly thanks to baffle gain from wall mounting, there's no real gap between the speakers' roll-off and the sub. They're a touch bright, but not bad. I'll also say they're surprisingly hefty and well built (I don't think this is necessarily true of the older Quintet I/II, not sure about the III) and the built-in rotating stands/mounts are quite versatile.

For $200 I'd say they're worthwhile IF you need a small and efficient speaker and have reasonable expectations... if you have the space for a more traditional bookshelf speaker, I'd definitely go that route instead. For the $28 ($5/speaker, $8 for the center, another $15 for the AVR) I paid for the set, and for a secondary (tertiary, really) system replacing a soundbar, they were a no-brainer... but that's not really a fair point of comparison.

Klipsch Reference theater 5.1 pack just went on sale at Costco for $299 with free shipping. It kills this 5.0 deal.

How does the reference theater 5.1 sound when compared to a Sonos 5.1 setup? I just bought reference 5.1 with denon 750 300+400$.. I only have used sonos for a while now.. currently using arc 2x sub ones2x for home theater main,
I wanted to get another sound system for another room, should I keep denon750 with reference 5.1 or pay another 50$ to get a 2nd arc to use in other room with my main 2nd sub + 1s I have lying around to make my 2nd 5.1 /atmos?
