Not entirely true.

Buy your $100 Target GC using your Citi DC 2% card nets you another $1.9 off.

User your Target GC rather than your Redcard at Target and earn another 1% ($1) in Target Circle rewards.

That's 7.9% off instead of 5%. Not a lot, but it's not zero sum.

no it doesn't. i'll tell you why.....

paying with target gift cards will give you that 1% target circle earnings. paying with redcard will not give you any target circle earnings.

soooo......

buy your gift cards for 5% off and then use them for future purchases to get another 1% back in target circle earnings.

Fyi: Target is also offering a buy $50 twice, get $30 in target circle credit. Gift cards don't qualify but everything else does.

Not at all. Pay for the TGT GC with a rewards card (for example, Altitude Reserve = 4.5% back), and it's a fantastic deal.

What's worst is, they don't allow converting an e-gift card to a physical gift card. Also, you can't use target gift card to buy other shops' gift cards…
