Thailand is set to open its top party island, Phuket, to all vaccinated travelers by July 1.
International tourists will be able to enter Phuket without quarantining and to travel to other parts of Thailand if they stay in Phuket for at least 14 days.
The launch is dependent on Phuket hitting a 70% vaccination rate among locals.

Booked a flight for November, hoping the rest of the country will be open. I've never been to Phuket but I have been to Bangkok and it was amazing. If the country opens fully, a flight from Phuket to Bangkok is as low as $24 and takes about 80 minutes. So this is a pretty sweet deal.


That layover in Doha tho is pretty bad. Qatar has strict drinking laws, the airport is not impressive, and the wait is long. This extends the time to get to Thailand. I suggest just renting a temporary hotel and grabbing some sleep before the connecting flight.

But for the price it's great.

If you hit up the ORYX Lounge near the large yellow bear there it's about $50, which includes beds, spirits/wine, and food. I've stayed there plenty of times and it makes layovers pretty chill. There's also a game room and showers.

For those still holding the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you have 2 lounges available with your Priority Pass: Al Maha Services Transit Lounge and the Sleep 'N Fly Sleep Lounge. Don't know if other travel cards include the Priority Pass, but it was one of the nicest perks during our international travels pre-Covid (though the lounges can get rather crowded during peak travel times).
