With chromebooks do not forget to check model for ChromeOS Update expiry! Depends on your intended use case. I'm still on a CB3-431-C5FM that someone on Craigslist sold to me with bluetooth mouse gently used for $40 back in 2017. For me, the tradeoff for better screen resolution, sturdiness, amount of storage and RAM, linux and android app support, and maybe even performance speed were more important than a touchscreen.

Is there a reason to go with this over the HP 11a that seems to be popping on/off sale for $169-189? Seems like the Mediatek processor gets overall better reviews, neither have a touchscreen. Port selection is better on this Acer, and battery life is about the same. Both screens look to be 768p, though the HP looks like it's TN (will a low-price IPS panel make a big difference?).

What am I overlooking? Or is it mainly processor difference vs. screen tech?

The "Spin" version of this is $200 at Wal-Mart and has an IPS screen, though it's a Mediateck chip instead of Intel.

Well, you're certainly getting your money's worth!

Makes sense. I was just thinking of getting this for my wife, and it would be nice if she could use it as an Android tablet as well, though it's really not essential.
