That is a question loaded with variables. Anyways I will give my data points as a reference. For me here, 5G is a couple miles away on TMO and not that great. However, on my newer devices with the Standalone 5G Sim Card (VS say another same phone that i just popped in old SIM in instead). . .the phones with SA sims get 100-150mbps, where as the non SA sim phones gets 60-100 normally, all other things equal.

Another quirk is the 5G home internet Gateway I recently got. It seems to be non SA 5G, further evidenced by the primary signal always being set at 4G no matter how you twerk the online settings (other than shutting of 4G altogether, which shuts down communication in the end). And keep in mind I never get better than 'Good" signal on the app (There are higher VG and Excellent ratings). . .but when I am at "Good" it pulls from B2 4G or B66 4G. . .and Gives me 50-100Mbps hardwired. . .and when I twist the gateway slightly to where it gives me "Weak" signal. . .it seems to pull off the N71 5G tower and my speeds jump up to 100-200mbps hardwired. For reference, my 4G towers are just under a mile away due east, and the n71 5G tower is roughly 2 miles away and to the NE, so it's not that hard to try and exclude one or the other. . .

If you're planning on sticking with T-Mobile for the next 2 years, this is a great deal. They're giving $800 for Pixel 3s and S8s!

No, the phone can't have any cracks on the screen and must be functional.

Hm...I have a A32 5G free phone promo currently on my account.

I just pay that off and get this and it'll move to the account level as a credit?
No. The promo credit for the A32 5G will be overwritten. There is no way to move promo credit from one line to another. Any remaining promo credit will be forfeit.

Since the deal is tied to a line, you can just use this deal on a line that currently doesn't have a promo on it.

I miss the days of 2 year contracts because you didn't need to trade a phone in to get these kinds of discounts. Now you still are locked in until you pay the phone off, trade ins not worth $800 if you still owe money on it too.
Monthly service prices were also way more expensive. Selective memory.

On Simple Choice with 11 lines, not as good as the Mother's Day deal for non-prem plans.
The $500 offer was already available before this too with no new line needed.
Would be amazing if they did the 5+ year $200 discount as well for long term customers.

Is this worth switching from Note 8? I wish Costco had a deal because I don't want to be tied for 24 month, that makes you ineligible for any other promos or offers once a line has a promo going on monthly basis.

If you have the one plus promo it won't qualify for the full $800, just FYI.

Assuming you're not using a huge SD storage card any of the newer Samsung models are a good upgrade path for you, as Samsung has basically killed the Note for now. FYI: the newer models have 128 GB of storage (with no option for expansion).

The S21 will shrink the screen ever so slightly, as well as the resolution, but otherwise you're getting everything Samsung in a slightly smaller form factor! (Unless you're part of the small group of people who miss the curved glass screen features... those are gone)

If you don't need SD expansion but want to retain stylus functionality consider the S21 Ultra option. That grows the phone ever so slightly, but also increases the screen size (and resolution) while giving you the option (albeit less integrated) of using a Samsung stylus.

Good luck!

The added urgency for me is that I've been holding out hope for at least one more deal this year which might still include my S8. While the S21 FE may be generous enough to include the S8 as a full-price trade-in option... I suspect there's a risk this could be the last one(?).

And I'm also still holding onto an S9 I might also swap in for this deal since it's serving no other purpose right now.

Good luck!

Great info, thank you. I am using 64GB SD and I should be able to manage 128GB storage (That's storage only partition, right, not 128GB including space used by OS? how do they do that these days?) The problem with storage is more and more videos use 4K, 60FPS, this and that, pictures are getting bigger and bigger, games are huge now one game can take like 10GB of storage, those are my main concerns. I don't get why they are stuck in 128GB when 256+ can cost maybe few dollars more when there is no expansion.
Also no headphone jack either right?

No, I actually despise curved screen and couldn't wish that to end soon enough. One thing I like on iPhone is the wider (not taller) screen I wish Samsung kept that on some devices, I feel like Note 8's tall resolution was a downgrade from earlier Note's.

I don't need a huge device I think 21 Plus would be too big, I am happy with Note8 size even slightly smaller, not S10 size, though, that's a little too small, but when I look at the actual screen, it's similar because of less bezels.

Is there a page source trick to see which codes are eligible for this deal?
Again I wish there was a deal for like %50 out-right cost vs monthly credit, $800 for Note 8 is insanely tempting but trading in + being tied 24 months is a little too much in my opinion.

Me either. And chat had no idea what I was talking about. Beginning to think it's bullshit.

Fresh out of the box your S21 would lose around 20% to the OS and preinstalled applications (so let's say 25GB). If that's too tight for you consider the Ultra again as it is the only option that has a very reasonable upgrade to 256GB per T-Mobile for $50 additional.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...0214668110

No headphone jack, but USB-C to 3.5mm adapters can at least be had for pretty cheap (of varying quality).

You're definitely correct to worry about the residual value of your Note 8. Your phone isn't broken but if you're looking to maximize its residual value you should definitely be looking to jump ASAP.

Good luck!
