I'm using it with the 4.0 and the 6.0 and it's great. It's lightweight which is the most important thing and much much quieter than anything else that I've used. Heck, it's quieter than the typical handheld home cordless vacuums. So it's great for little cleanups, e.g. cutting drywall for outlet and clean up quickly, drill concrete patio and cleanup quickly, cut baseboard in the house and cleanup quickly, you see where I'm going with this. Having said that, I managed to do a quick sweep of 500sqft floor + stairs and still had plenty of 4.0 battery left. If someone is looking to substitute their corded dry/wet vac, they're fooling themselves, either in 12V or 18/20V platforms. But the convenience won't be beat in any way.

Same size hose. 51cfm for bosch. 50cfm for milwaukee.

4.0ah at 18v is same run time (technically energy) as 6.0ah at 12v.

So really does come down to other things like form factor or if you want to invest in a particular battery platform.

The 12V Milwaukee has more cfm than the 20V Dewalt.

50cfm vs. 33cfm

Dewalt doesn't list suction but same size hose.

I've debated between this one and back pack one. Want to leave in basement to more easily clean the steps outside instead of constantly sweeping up leaves. Any have both? Lol

I don't know how good this model is, but I have the M12 dry only vacuum and it's terrible. About all it's good for is putting next to your drill when making a hole in drywall to keep the dust from hitting the ground. It's also pretty loud for how small it is.
this isnt that great. i sell the M18 one for around 90-100 and for sure that's the way to go. this 12v vacuum stuff light duty don't have high hopes for great suction. batteries would probably die in around under 10 mins or so. just weak I love m12 but vacuums don't shine like 18v ones do. ridgid ryobi and Milwaukee 18vs all do a decent job

It's the 2nd weakest cordless vacuum. I have a ridgid and it's powerful than any of these. I didn't know at first until I saw a video of people testing all the brands. There's are reasons why the other brands are quiet and longer run time. On side note I'm now using my cordless shop vacuum more than the corded ones because Juggling between those cords and how bulky all of them are. I never knew how convenient it is until recently because I been having my cordless one sitting collecting dusts for years and I was about to sell it for 20$

Owned this for 2yrs. Not much suction power, and probably the worst milwaukee tool in my 30+ repertoire. Even the Stanley $15 shop vac is much better than this
Edit: silly me, I have the M18 one NOT this one. so... yeah don't get the m18

Pulling the trigger on this. Been eyeing since it launched and hesitated initially because of early reports of the unit cutting off after a few seconds due to thermal overload. Seems like those issues are worked out now, and this is a solid (if not quite "slick") deal with the 6ah battery and charger. Now I just need the M12 pin nailer to go on sale...

EDIT

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on the pin nailer [homedepot.com]. Had an HD coupon for 10% off orders of $299 or more, so after adding it to my cart and applying the coupon I'm getting another $35 off the total. If you have the HD credit card, you should have received the same 10% offer via email or snail mail.
That might be a targeted coupon, I can't find one in my email and haven't had snail mail from them since they sent me the card. Nice deal!

I have posted this before, but check out the YouTube(r) Project Farm for incredible reviews on these battery operated cordless shop vac's.

I'm still trying to see/touch one of the Ryobi 3gal or gal models, but my local Home Depot stores do not keep it in stock. Yuck

One thing to note with the Ryobi is that it doesn't have a HEPA filter. I was actually going for that one, but the availability of HEPA brought me to the Milwaukee one

The 18V Dewalt worked really well. Both the Dewalt 20V versions have terrible suction, a big let down.

My concern is 3min run time per AH? Love my Milwaukee 12V tools but mostly have 1.5 AH batteries. That would mean if I used up all 4 I may get 18 minute run time? OUCH!

I have plenty of Dewalt 20V batteries 3/4/5 and even some flexvolts. But again, their vacuums suck.

The Milwaukee 18V gets great reviews, but 2 battery types are enough for me, (Dewalt 20V and Milwaukee 12V)

what's the use case for this? car cleaning?

Use it for any little job that doesn't need a big vacuum.

If you spill some whatever in the kitchen, you can sweep it up, but it always leaves that tiny bit that the dustpan misses.

I have a microfiber duster and after using it, I vacuum the dust off.

I typically use a cordless blower to blow the dirt out of my truck. Using the vacuum I can get those hard to blow areas.

Got a little dust on whatever, suck it off.

I use a cordless vac more often than a corded vac but I use a corded vac for longer than I use a cordless vac.

Project Farm tested some cordless vacs, including the M18 and the Ridgid, which he liked.

This is completely different. It's fuel vs non-fuel for the first very obvious difference. The two don't compare at all.
Why I said its not the same model. Its just a data point about M12 vacuums. The vac I bought didn't live up to my meager thoughts of what I thought it could do.

The Dewalt was designed for portability and endurance. Hence it also have a power chord option. Other portable vacuum will only run at 10 mins mark while the Dewalt can run for 45 mins with 5ah. Put a 12ah and you should be good for couple of hours.

This is what you bring when you have a portable tool and you want a long lasting portable vacuum that will last for more than an hour on battery. Say you have a portable router/or portable battery operated miter saw that you bring where no power is, This Dewalt vacuum will continually be on sucking every fine dust for couple of hours.

No other portable vacuum can match its battery life but of course, the downside is also lower suction power. They do have their purposes but I wish there's 2 speed... one for endurance and one for suction power... You can't have both at the same time for portable vacuum.

More proof that Milwaukee fanboys will upvote any deal on this site if it's for a tool that is red and has the word Milwaukee on it. I have used cordless vacs from Dewalt 20v, Milwaukee M12, Bosch 18v and Ryobi 18v. Out of that group, the Bosch was far and away better than the others. I haven't tried the Rigid 18v cordless vac yet, but supposedly that one is the best.
