Just use ordinary (screw in) LED bulbs! This looks like a much better kit than the TopFin one with the crappy mini led strip with like 4 LEDs only in it.

I have a TopFin 10 looks very much like this but filter is different using incadescent bulb like 10 years ago. They release new model using LED later.
So this Aqueon seems to be old stock.
Can replace the incandescent bulb but it requires a long shaped bulb, not sure if that can be easily found in store.
I use a long/one single side surface mount LED bulb from ebay (used as white grow light before) which has large heatsink at the back to dissipate the heat.

if You like slickdeals because it let's you save money, then just skip this deal. A free tank will cost more than you want to spend and this isn't free. If you're hooked, well then, may god bless your soul and good luck enjoy the savings of this deal.
I've been wanting to get my 9 yr old a 20-40 gallon tank for a while... Can someone who has this or has had it, say if this 20 gallon setup is good? (Should i get a different filtration system or switch out the light?!) I know nothing about tanks and want to stay in the $160 or less range... Also how many fish is the right amount of fish to hand in a 20 gallon tank?
I know what the rules say, and i don't recommend what I did. But my niece and nephew came home with 5 gold fishes from the fair. All I got was a 5 gallon tank. 4 years later, 4 of them are still alive and well in that same 5 gallon tank. I came over to clean the tank once a week until they were old enough to do it themselves. I did use a larger than needed filter. However, no light, no heater, no water pump. They are the toughest gold fishes i've come across. lol

Agreed, that why I only build my aquarium myself always.

Usually for aquariums like this what you pay for it is like the down payment on a house. The less you spend now the more you spend later. And you will spend more later.

I've kept fish for more than a decade. Welcome to the hobby!
With respect to how many fish, the general rule of thumb is one inch length of fish per gallon. When they are adults. But they also have to get along - like two beta males will fight each other to the death.
If you are getting started there are a few easy tips to keep in mind to minimize fish death mostly relating to acclimatizing and the "cycle" which is very confusing - the spruce pets is a great resource and I'm happy to answer any questions on PM. The tank looks fine also
