This seems like a solid deal. Great price/Decent reviews. If I didn't have complete sets of standard and metric I would be on this deal. Flare wrenches are something you don't need until you do. These look like gearwrench knockoffs right down to the name. Some reviews complain about the ends being robust. My Gearwrench's are the same way. For $23, if you need a set, I say go for it.

Wonder how much the knock off gearwrench brand geardrove will cost? Stripped fittings are no fun especially if you gotta go rent a double flare tool lol

Have your Gearwrenchs' thick ends given you any problems? I don't deal with lines much but may pick this set up for brake maintence.

Just curious when one would use flare wrenches over regular wrenches? I mean what is the biggest draw for using them? To prevent stripping a nut?

Yes. Mainly for nuts such as brake lines.

The only time I ever use these is for brake line fittings

If you ever do a brake job, you'll need these.

The cut out in the wrench head allows them to slip over a line (brake line, power steering line, etc) while also having more than 2 points of contact with the nut. Flare nuts are often made from softer metals like brass so they are easy to damage with a regular open end wrench.

I've changed brakes, bled brake lines, power steering fluid flush and replace, and just about everything else you can do (on European/Japanese cars only) and never needed or wished I had a flare nut wrench. Not saying they're not useful, but standard spanner has always been fine for me.

Bought a set last week at harbor freight with their 20% off coupon

Needed it to replace brass connection for the faucet. Glad I have some now...
