I bought this new a couple years ago and I've been disappointed that there's never been a new firmware update for it. That said it's pretty good as far as performance and stability goes.

The person returning it probably couldn't figure out how to get it to work. When they get the return, they probably just clean it up, slap the latest firmware on there, give it a quick test, and then sell it as refurbished.

Thank you OP for taking time out your day to post a deal for us. However this isn't the best deal this is a refurb and was available for the same price last year. Also this is a gen behind the new standard of wifi6.

When it comes to electronics, when is exactly done to refurbish? Replace a resister?

No regular firmware updates is a killer. I would not buy any router unless there is proper firmware support. Example Netgear: good hardware, awful firmware.

Also, I would think twice before buying a refurbished router, maybe directly from the manufacturer but never ever from any third-party seller. Routers are prone to break after a few years.

I bought this for 99 at Costco. Switched from AX11000 tp link. Gaming experience is noticeably better with wifi5, which is weird because I have AX201 on my computer. Also no hiccups. As far as firmware goes, they are consumer grade routers and you need to accept that. Even ASUS and net gear won't push updates every month, so it comes down to users themselves. You are the one who will make your network more secure, not the router.

Just returned my second one of these to Costco. Went with the Deco X60 mesh system which is working so much better. I have a lot of the TPLINK WiFi light switches. Too many WiFi devices seemed to be killing this archer c4000 unit. Also I needed better coverage. At this price it's great for most cases. Shame it doesn't support mesh.

Customer probably didn't like the router dropping signal daily, like mine does. During refurbish, they can't duplicate the problem, so stick it in a box and re-sell it.

Even netgear would not make any firmware update for its nighthawk router series. It just suck when there are too many bugs exist

It was a price mistake through walmart has nothing to do with any kind of covid shortage. This router was never legit this price new, closet was Costco at $99 not long ago.

How many devices you talking? I have over 40 and haven't had to reset this router once.
