It's not a bad sander, but I would start with an orbital before this as it's will get the job done faster. This is good for corners, etc, but it's known as a fine or detail sander rather than the workhorse an orbital sander is

I don't get the downvotes either. Battery + charger is already $50 at very least.

A good place to start is the ROS20VSC. It's very forgiving, the anti-vibration tech is unlike anything else I've experienced, and it's less expensive. Yes it's corded, but to reduce swirl marks you want your sander hooked up to a shop vac or dust collector anyways so I personally don't put any weight into a cordless option

That's a Bosch product….forgot to include that. I'm a Dewalt fan, but I think Bosch excels in their sanders

A corded Bosch sander is tough sell to those in a deal thread that is for a Dewalt cordless product.

Dewalt also makes a 20v brushless orbital sander. I would wait for a deal on that unit for those who prefer Dewalt and cordless.

acmetools has a deal on the orbital sander: https://www.acmetools.com/shop/to...t-dcw210d1
but you have to spend $200 for free shipping.

Absolutely... if you are in the DeWalt line and want a battery operated 1/4 sheet sander.

You might consider that for about the same money, you can buy both a corded orbital and 1/4 sheet sander....

For me and others, using a bulky battery operated sander in shop, or where there is corded power available, is a waste of battery portability and just too bulky----that are limited to time on battery and maybe more important, have a limited life span. For the average homeowner, take care of it and the corded tools will still be running 20 years from now.

But yes, this is a good deal.... if for whatever reason, this is what you need.

Without any updates, that post was/is 'unavailable for online purchase,' whereas this post is active with free shipping to home. Posted on 6-8 with brickseek links to find if you can, it appeared to be another treasure hunt that is now buried in listings for DeWalt.

My Makita 12v drill and impact are still running strong at around 7-8 years old..
and they're not even brushless. I would assume as long as batteries are available quality brushless power tools should easily last 15 years.

Couldn't agree more. My only issue with dewalt corded orbital sanders are the velcro pads. I wear them out. They eventually don't allow the sanding discs to stick to the underside of the sander. They sell replacements, and here is my issue, depending on when you bought the sander you either buy the three screw one or the four screw one. I have both kinds, which is annoying. I have one sander that I have been using for 17 years. The power switch is bad so it is always on, but I think it sands the best out of the four of that I own.

I don't have dewalt for everything, but for random orbital corded sander sub $50 on sale, best bang for the buck I have found. I bought another one last year, not as nice as the original, will probably die quicker.

The expensive part is the batteries.... I kind of doubt the batteries will last 15 years.

My corded orbitals are DeWalt, and Makita, while the 1/4 sheet and belt sanders are Makita. There are others, but those I use the most. Like you said, catch them on sale or wherever. Maybe do ao a camel search for the low on the DeWalt pads and set a buy notice for both Amazon, 3rd party Amazon and Home Depot.

Several of the 1/4 sheet Makita I bought used.... I took the base off that leaves four anchor holes for vibrating smaller concrete forms.... they were cheap because the pads were worn, but they do what I wanted them for.
