I'd been looking at the case for the past two months for my Oculus and this was the first time it popped up on sale. Not sure how often they discount them.

FYI these cases are great. Harbor Freight gets you great prices on basically 80% of the higher scale product. Downsides to these cases, if you don't already know, are the latches and the foam. Latches are just subpar, but the foam is nowhere near the quality of the pelican/nanuk. If you won't be removing/replacing almost everyday, you don't need the quality of the overpriced stuff. Just be gentle and it'll last forever

Ive read that some people recommend plasti-dipping the foam after you plucked it to your desired use.

Should work for whatever you're wanting to stencil or pluck for the foam. I have a few of these style cases but I found them less useful for firearms; I mean it looks cool but I find a good soft case w/ utility/mag pouches more practical. Perhaps if I was flying with them I'd find more use for these kind of cases. Makes sense for drone and camera setups though, and I've also used them for expensive testing tools around the farm, especially since dad is NOT careful with how he handles cases, so that works great.

Note: I can't speak to this particular model but I picked up some rando Chinese Pelican knock-off from some deal on Slickdeals years ago. Looks mostly the same.

How are they for protecting a DSLR camera and lenses in heat, say, if left in a hot car (not in direct sunlight just prolonged ambient heat over many hours/days)?
