We paid $220 for this during COVID's peak, so this is a really nice deal. It's not the greatest quality but it's definitely worth $130 and some change (I wouldn't pay $220 for it again, though). The backboard itself does shake quite a bit and the ball bouncing off the base and launching itself in all different directions is annoying, but for the price it's definitely tolerable. We filled the base with sand which was a huge pain in the a$$ and took forever but it's NOT blowing over and will never leak (we probably won't ever be able to move it, either). If I had to do it over again though I would probably just go with water since it would be so much easier.

Price dropped to $121.54. A quick chat and they credited me back the difference plus tax.

Also, set it up yesterday. From the moment I opened the box to the kid taking his first shot after filling it with water was less than 3 hours. The instruction book was very clear and concise w/ pics. A lot of reviews complain about them, so maybe they've recently been updated. Laid all the parts out first. Then laid out parts for each step and it went very smooth. Just had one hole on the base/underside of the lower pole that wasn't quite opened all the way, making it very hard to attach to the base. Took it off the base, ratcheted in the bolt first, backed it out and then reattached and it went right in. That was the only hiccup.

It is very sturdy and backboard doesn't seem to have all that much shake as some have mentioned..

Worth it for getting some shots up for an adult? Can't decide between this or a hoop with some better reviews like the Silverback NXT or legit Spalding Beast... this price is so tempting!

I would put this right up against the Silverback for a lot less money. No way would I pay for the Spalding Beast as well. It also does not have a lot of leg clearance. Might as well opt for a permanent solution at that price. This is a solid portable hoop at an excellent price. Combine this with a Dr. Dish IC3 basketball return (combined for almost the price of the Silverback) and you can get up hundreds of shots in a session. My son and I use this setup with an IOS app called Homecourt to track our shots.

Anyone have any experience with the 54" Acrylic? Is it too big to start a 6-year-old on, or will he grow into it quickly enough? I was trying to buy the 50" Poly, but ended up with 54" Acrylic and now my wife is worried it will be too big.

Looks like a good deal if you can find one for $220, but I can't find any anywhere around me in Central NJ.....here's the link if anyone's interested--

54" is the size of the backboard and has nothing to do with kids age. With that said, almost all of this unit have height adjustment. Start him on the lowest setting (probably 7 ft.) and work your way up. In a couple of years he will shooting 10ft height.

Appreciate the reply. I just wasn't sure if smaller kids should have smaller backboards, but i guess all the hoops are the same diameter regardless of backboard size, so I don't know what i was thinking.

I do see that mine goes from 7.5-10', so we are good... Thanks!

I have both - smaller backboard one actually has smaller hoop diameter. I assume the idea is that smaller kids will be throwing smaller ball.Peace

I believe this is the one I used to have. We had it until my wife drove over the base a couple of times. Besides it not standing up to that (And really, why should it have? LOL), it was a great hoop. In for 1. Unfortunately no shipping so we have to drive 1 hour away to get it.
