With that big of a project I would DEFINITELY go with Sowilo Designs for the Hue light strips over actual Hue brand strips. Their strips are better, can be extended much longer so you don't have to keep installing a bunch of receivers, and work exactly to Hue specs. They even use a Hue receiver but add amplification.

That's what I did in my house for all under cabinet, shelf, and toe kick lighting. They make the actual Hue strips look really cheap, dim, and too far between LEDs by comparison.

Reach out to them for bulk pricing if you are buying a bunch and you'll get better pricing. https://sowilodesign.com/

Bonus, Mike is super helpful and will help design what you need. They even solder.

Sowilo uses an authentic Hue controller, so it's exactly the same integration. They just designed a higher quality strip with higher guage wire, higher CRI, more LED density per meter, and then attach an authentic Hue controller along with a 5 channel high frequency amplifier that allows you to go longer without losing brightness.

The Philips Hue strip light controller only puts out 20 watts, so when you extend it you lose lumens per LED. Not so with Sowilo's setup. They essentially took all of the good parts of Hue integration and made it work for more applications than an average Joe putting up one strip light.

Apparently they did change the connector and made it slightly smaller on the Bluetooth version. Bummer.

Sounds like a serious project. Yes this is a great deal for these, especially if you can buy in quantity.

Have you found a good mounting system for these in a permanent installation like that? The little flexible strips are fine for temporary decorating or accent, but I think I've heard of people using custom metal or plastic mounting channels to create a more stable and finished-looking installation.

Yes, there are many led light strip defusers on Amazon. I was going to go with one that had an aluminum base to assist with any heat from the LED's and extend the life of the strips. There are quite a few good YouTube videos on how to install them well and how to avoid common mistakes.

I used the original hue in an older home and they looked amazing for ceiling and cabinet accent lighting. These are going to look great!

Wouldn't it be significantly cheaper to use generic strips and a WiFi controller?

You have links to the YouTube vids and pics of cool installations? I JUST bought my first house and don't even know where to begin but I know these are really popular and people seem to love them.

Is there a way to hard-wire these lights rather than having to plug the transformer in an outlet?

Can I use it as just a regular light strip? Or I need a "main" strip? Want to add light under upper cabinet over a sink.

You need a base. It's the thing that goes between the power brick and the strip. It's what has the Bluetooth/hue bridge radio and light color controller

How many can you daisy-chain to one original strip?
