( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Erm yes... ergonomics.
Dang! I just bought another model that has 8gbs of ram instead of 16!
Fyi underneath it has a 100 dollar rebate option through MSI

According to the Notebookcheck review [notebookcheck.net], the NVMe drive is user-replaceable but the memory is soldered on. Battery life is so-so (about 6 hours in their WiFi test).

Got an extra $50 off using quadpay. Total was $920 with tax... $820 all in after the rebate.
I also used quad pay but don't see the $50 credit on my receipt.

hmm, pretty tempting, but touchscreen is sort of sweet to lean on when my hands and wrists ache due to ergonomics...
I am with you on that. Why is it that decent laptops never have touchscreens?

You can undervolt the CPU and lock the FPS for the GPU to get a better balance with performance and heating, see the article here. It's not hard to do, but I agree that MSI should have done a better job at this in the manufacture

That was the issue. Thanks. Talking with chat if they can apply the ocde. Or else I will just cancel and reorder.

On paper this laptop checks so many boxes right, however reviews indicate that there are major heat problems with it. I would stay away.

Thanks for the info. Looks like you can set different profiles. Will be setting it to battery saver since I'm planning to use it for school work only. Hoefully this should hel with the heat issue.

undervolt it.
Can laptops be undervolted without reducing frequency? I don't think so...

YMMV depending on the CPU, but unless you get an especially bad bin you can usually undervolt without reducing frequency. I can get -100mv on my i7-7700HQ without reducing CPU clocks or adding any instability.

Will this still run hot if you're not using it for anything too demanding?
ie. just basic email, youtube, social media etc?

I have the same laptop just with 1TB storage and no GTX.

I love it but:

1. MSI support is the worst
2. This is probably the loudest laptop I've seen in the last 10 years.

Other than that good spec for that price.

How? Most laptop bioses give you no CPU tweaking options.
