A no name company? It sold to Sonova, a Swiss company thats been around since the 40's. They have nearly 4 times the revenue of Sennheiser. They are also a global leader in hearing aids and cochlear implants.
What is with all these people saying Sennheiser is like some trash sound company all of a sudden? They got bought by a well known international company known for hearing aids and have said they have no intention of changing anything about the current running of the headphone department. Even if they're lying, why would anyone assume the quality will go down or up for their headphones going forward? We have no evidence that their headphones will be better or worse in the future, literally none.
And to the person saying Sonova is a no-name brand, obviously you wouldn't know what it is because you probably don't use a hearing aid, they're very much known here in the U.S. too. Theres many valid reasons to be mad with capitalism, but headphone brand being bought and managed by a different audio brand isn't instant doomsday news for Sennheiser. Just buy or don't buy the $98 solid pair of headphones and move on lol. The time to protest isn't on a Slickdeals page with like 25 people seeing your war on the new Sennheiser
After a decade you actually "need" a reason to get something new? And only $100 for these?
Also, pretty sure the cord detaches. It has a separate 3.5mm cable that comes with it... that would be pointless if not, right?
If you paid attention to my orig comment, I had mentioned that my HD595s are still reliable today even after purchasing them back in 2011, so if it ain't broke why fix it. However, they don't have a detachable cable which was my point of reference.

HD5X5 did not, but 5X8 and 5X9 series support detachable cables, and this comes with a long and a short (portable friendly) cable - makes a big difference
I just bought them due to them supporting detachable cables.

If you weren't such a douchebag and didn't immediately get defensive you'd see that I was just trying to encourage you to splurge on a new headset, not implying that what you have now doesn't work. Pull the farking stick out.

Come on now, headphones are for enjoying your music on, not for getting into flame wars and ad hominem attacks.
On a separate note, it's nice a number of people are still able to get in on this deal. I don't expect it'll last too long, but last time they also went on sale Black Friday last year, it was a Lightning deal that was fully claimed in just over a couple hours or something crazy like that.

Don't be so sensitive w/ your overreaction 😆, I was only pointing out your oversight 😅. Seems like you're the defensive one. I only buy things that "I need" and not for the sake of "splurge(ing)" which is why I'm not in debt which goes back to what I originally said, "if it ain't broke why fix it".

I don't know how Amazon's warehouses are set up, but they must be out of current stock where I am. They are expected to ship the first week of July though so the deal is still alive as of now.
I got them but disappointed that they came in Frustration Free Packaging. This wasn't mentioned anywhere on the page during the deal and since they're a gift I'd have appreciate the regular packaging rather than basic cardboard packaging.
if any one missed this deal they are in total loss. The sound clarity is simply superb means superb. I had many many different headphones and finally found the best one and regret not buying a second set as back up.

Yes, I've got 598CS, 58x, as well as the 650 and there's something special about these. I'm just breaking them in. For $98, this is the best money spent in stereo cable headphones.

Just letting you know that I received the headphones today and was able to detach the cable, and I wanted to say thanks for the plug (pun intended, lol). The short cable was a nice tough as well.

Cool, hope you like those HP. Besides the detachable cable, I'd imagine the most immediately noticeable sonic differences compared to the 595 would be the bass response and the wider soundstage (extrapolating and estimating from having owned the 555 and 558 previously).
