The 1tb is available with a 15% off coupon to clip on the page for total $89.25. No prime membership needed. This is a good deal.

This Prime thing seems like such a big con job. Half the things saved in my cart got "has increased in price" note this morning and now have Prime discounts to original price.

SK hynix via Amazon [amazon.com] has the 500 GB SK Hynix Gold S31 SATA III SSD for $45.99 on Prime Day. You must have Amazon Prime Membership to receive this price.

There's a review of the S31 at Tom's Hardware, see https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...-us-market

Their Verdict:
Quote :
SK Hynix's Gold S31 is a top SATA SSD pick. With performance figures of up to 560MBps, it trades blows with some of the best and is competitively priced.

I have 4 of the 1 TB in use. No problems. I just wished they came in larger capacities. If you need decent SATA SSD storage, this is it.

can anyone recommend an external enclosure to use this with? or would i be better off with a slower drive since it wont be connected to SATA?

You will still benefit from faster speed with ssd vs external hard drive.

But putting this in enclosure is cumbersome. And there is faster format

Hard drive <<< SATA. <<< m.2

I would get this Samsung already housed ssd. These things fly. Especially with USB C Port.
