Any tried cooking rice with this? Did it turn out ok? Trying to see if this thing can replace our rice cooker and insta pot and save counter space.
2 min on high pressure, let it sit for 10 min, then release the pressure. Perfect rice every time. Just need to make sure you add the right amount of water for how much rice you are cooking is all.

nothing really beats a Zojirushi but I'm sure if you baby it enough and dial it in you could figure out how to make rice in this.

Price seems great. Wife said she wants an air fryer but barely touches the instant pot I got her 2 yrs ago. Pull trigger on this to upgrade or just stick with a dedicated air fryer without all the other instant pot features? Decisions decisions.

The great thing about this over standard air fryers is the ceramic coating as opposed to the usual nonstick coating. There are various health and longevity benefits to the ceramic coating used in something like this.

Does it produce smoke or set off a smoke alarm?
No smoke, just some steam if you are pressure cooking and do the rapid release thing.

Just a note on pressure cookers:

My wife uses ours to make boiled eggs, and it has, by far, the best results in peeling eggshells.

To anyone on the fence….pull the trigger. We've had a Foodie on our counter for going on two years now, and it gets daily use.. many times multiple uses per day! It has replaced the dedicated air fryer that was on the counter, but we find ourselves pressure and slow cooking a lot more now that we don't have to grab those units out of storage and set up. We all know that you never use that stuff if it's not easily accessible.

Oh, and if you are making white rice, like others have said, 1:1 rice/water, 2 min high pressure and 10 min slow release….. Perfect rice every time. Hard boiled eggs as well.

We have the original 6 qt, and have purchased many accessories to go along with it such as stacking pots to create different foods in one cook, as well as a second stainless steel inner pot. This has replaced our Breville toaster oven as the favorite gadget in the kitchen….. by miles.

Killer deal. I bought mine at $180 and still think it was worth it. At this price, I wish I needed one. I use it about once a week to air fry french fries or chicken, pressure cook country ribs or chicken, etc. I need to learn to do rice in this thing asap. I had mine for a year and half. Also, mine failed shortly before the year was up with some fatal error and the company replaced it - only charged me $20 for shipping. I use it so much that i thought that as fair, but not sure how other SD'ers might feel about it.
Did you get the error 8 msg? You are more lucky than Im. I got the error msg about a year and a half out on the older model. Which apparently uses the same base, called ninja and they wanted to charge me $170 for a new base replacement or a brand new one for 270. I told them that they were out of their mind because the new one costs way less than that.

I do use it ok a daily basis, bought one and the new one arrived to my place in less than 4 hours.

As a generic white person, I think it cooks white rice fine. We've done sushi rice too, but I think it makes better brown rice than I've ever gotten on a stovetop. I use mine almost every day. Especially in the summer months, I like baking in it. That way I don't have to worry about the oven heating up the house.

Did you actually use 20% coupon and succeeded? I signed up with an email but the item is excluded so no luck.

EDIT: It did not accept yesterday for a different Ninja Foodi item. But I was able to use a 20% off coupon on this OP item today. Final price $120 plus tax. Super Slick.

I have a zojirushi and this. The foodi is better at making rice. But it doesn't keep rice warm at all. It just hardens. So remove the rice asap.

If anything it saves counter space from only having one appliance. That's why I got mine. I live in 1 bedroom apartments with very little kitchen space.
