Great sound quality and very loud, the only thing missing is a power button. It's a fantastic deal at this price, don't know if it will drop any further.

They have been this price for a couple of weeks now and this is literally one of the best deals you will EVER see on ANYTHING. I have had these for about 8 years and they are so good that I got this deal as a backup in case something ever happens to the ones I've been using all these years, plus with Costco, you can return these whenever you want, even years later if something happens to them (they are excluded from the 90 day electronic return policy). Honestly, if you didn't know any better, you'd think the sound was coming from at least a $500+ speaker system. For $70 with an unlimited return policy, it's not a deal, it's a steal.

And for those complaining about a lack of power button, if you put your pc to sleep or hibernate it or shut it down, they will power off, so I don't see what the problem is unless you want them off while your pc is on.

The problem is unless you shut the speakers off the offensively bright white LED in the front will keep you cat from sleeping. Seriously, you can read by that sucker. Why do companies think consumers want a night light on every device? Speaking of things that consumers may not want, the ProMedia's are a PITA to unpack, tightly wrapped taping on each component. Not "frustration-free" packing, though IIRC some Logitech speakers are even worse. What utility do corporations think they are adding by packing products so they can survive 2 ice ages and a nuclear exchange?

Not sure, but haven't these been through multiple revisions in the last 2 decades they've been around? I think I remember seeing around 2015 or 2017, there were some major changes to the components.

why not just put a peace of paper/tape over the light then or just put anything in front of it to block it? And who cares about the packing. you deal with it for a minute of two and can enjoy the speakers for years and years and years. You are way too picky, dude. Look at the price, it's insanely good! I bought these originally for so much more and it was one of the greatest deals ever, so this is wayy better than that, so that's all that matters.

Well I got them in 2013 and they are unbelievable. Don't know if they are before or after the changes people are talking about, but i can't imagine them being any better than what I have...

My solution was to put the speakers on their own power strip so they effectively have a power button. The vaaaast majority of desktop speakers come with their own switch, and though the Klipsch sound decent, the lack of a switch AND the super-bright LED is an annoyance. I guess I could have gone the duct-tape route, and certainly considered it, but it shouldn't be necessary.
As to the packing, if folks don't push back against over-packaging the companies will continue to do it. It isn't just annoying, producing all this unnecessary packaging increases prices and is hard on the environment. 80 million tons of generally unrecyclable container & packaging are created each year. One of the few good things Mallwart has done is to pressure manufacturers to cut back on this, though I suspect it has more to do with saving a few ducats than preserving the planet. https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna18056716

I have two set of this, it still consume 15.5w to 16.8w even not connect to any device.

One way to see it is that it is about 10.598 lb. of extra CO² warming up the planet per month according to my back-of-the-envelop calculations [eia.gov].

Or are you only concerned about your personal electric bill? A significant concern about capitalism is that it doesn't really address spillover costs [wikipedia.org] or externalities, the way that you choose to use your resources can damage every other life form on earth. That doesn't stop economists from coming up with concepts like Pareto optimality [wikipedia.org], the notion that it is illegitimate to tax Bezos $10 to save a starving third-world family for a month; because you can't measure subjective notions of utility you can't tell if Bezos is psychically harmed more by the expropriation of that money than the family is benefited.

Of course if someone would just come over and plug in my speakers I'd feel much better about the whole situation.

Is there quality difference between these and the Bluetooth version? Specs look identical aside from the BT subwoofer weighing 6lbs less.
