OOS, but can still be ordered. Usually the 17" models offer better cooling and this also has a numpad, making it better than the G15 3070 from BB for $1850.

No mux switch in these latest Asus laptops, unfortunately. Connecting to an external monitor will do the trick, if you have that option.

Is there a good technical reason for this?

this is not a bad deal if you prefer nvidia over amd GPU. i was able to pick up an open box asus g15 advantage (amd cpu and GPU 6800M) for $150 less than retail. according to reviewers the 6800M will perform "better" than the RTX3070 in some cases. so far i'm enjoy the the g15. had this sale popped up last week, i would've gotten this instead. i just like nvidia GPU more. again, been happy so far with the 6800M though.

from my understanding, it's a cost saving "feature"

It is better for battery life, but makes cpu bound games suffer.

I am hearing there are some issues with the drivers on 6800m. Also, when considering RT the 3070 easily beats the 6800m. I personally like the Advantage Edition a lot due to the battery life and 1440p gaming benchmarks but no numpad and weak driver support and also lack of features present on Nvidia makes me wary.

I think full power 3070 is around 140W like on the Legion 5 Pro

Can anyone recommend a great deal on compatible performance ram / ssd for this laptop? Would prefer to go to 32 GB and possibly 2 TB.

I see this RAM being mentioned both on Reddit and on SD:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

For SSD, the best deal is the SK Hynix right now:
