What's your lighting setup? Cheap lightbox is super helpful, and a macro for whatever system you are using, and a tripod.

If this is mainly what you are going to do with it, then an older/used dslr with macro lens is best.
I do have a light box and using S21 Ultra currently.

Not a big fan of this deal. If this was the g95 with the 2 lens kit instead, then this would be great (like the g85 2lk deal a couple of years back @ $699 new). This g95 is already overpriced to begin with when you consider other offerings in this price range -- thinking Canon m50ii with the 15-45 lens kit, Nikon z50 with the 16-50 lens kit. The Canon and Nikon are just better cameras at this price range, and the Canon at $699 with the lens kit is their regular price.

Is this a good camera for making YouTube videos, mostly indoors, with blurry backgrounds? I also am looking to have this be my video conference setup for zoom meetings.

Last year I moved from a Nikon D90 DX format DSLR to an Olympus E-M10 Mark III and it's been an awesome upgrade. I was kicking around the idea of sticking with a DX/crop sensor camera or moving to a FX/full frame but ultimately decided on M4/3. I realized that the biggest problem I had with my DSLR was that I dreaded carrying it around due to the bulky gear. The M4/3 format solves that problem along with adding some cool new features my D90 was lacking.

Not exactly, it's a mft sized sensor, so for the same camera-subject-background distances and fov, it has greater depth of field for a given f-stop. You need a faster lens or to shorten the distance between the subject and the camera to blur out the background details more.

You can get thin dof, it just doesn't come at the same focal length/aperture/distance as of you can with apsc, ff, or mf. - each of those reducing dof as sensor size increases, all else held constant.

I'm a pretty experienced photographer but know almost nothing about video. My wife wants to start a YT channel, it's going to be a mix of filming situations. Some vlogging, some sitting at a desk and talking, and some footage type shots. Looking for a fairly good but inexpensive camera to get her going, would this (and most importantly with the kit lens) be sufficient? Any other suggestions in this price range?

This uses a cropped sensor for videos. Good for vlogging, but if you wanted to get into serious videos, probably not the best.

But for basic video, this would be good.

Love my G85. This isn't a big upgrade, and a side grade in some ways. Dpreview has a good video review for those interested. They added usb charging, headphone Jack and more megapixels but 4k crop is worse. Still a solid hybrid camera for many situations
I also love my G85, but I was strongly considering this model instead because of one upgrade you didn't mention but I feel was the single most important one: they improved the color rendition, IMO it's leaps and bounds better than the G7 series and G85.

Panasonic (and Sony) had a signature "look" that always seemed unnatural to me, like blues had a funny tint and foliage had reduced the yellow, and since skies and plants are in so many pictures it was very noticeable to me. The G9 and this G95 seem almost as if Panasonic moved towards Olympus' color signature, or maybe they learned from Leica, which is a major plus in my book because my favorite color science is done by Leica (seems very "real" but a bit romantic), Nikon (creamy but maybe slightly diffused/dull?), and Olympus (like a more vibrant Leica, or a nice low ISO Kodachrome).

Subjectively, you may not value that as much as I do, or feel that the shift was in the direction of your preference, but when JPEGs and RAWs seem as good or better than I can massage out of photoshop/Lightroom/Apple photos, then that's an amazing time saver.

USB charging is also handy, because if you travel a lot and you're away from power outlets, you visit foreign countries, or you're trying out some camping/van life, USB is more ubiquitous than United States style A/C outlets internationally and you can almost always find one in a library, friend's computer, battery bank, or even solar panels, and USB is DC power which is more efficient than using the inverters in a typical external battery charger.

Thanks, the crop is just for 4k right? Yea, I think just a starter camera that my wife can grow with for video is ideal.

Are there any other cameras at this price range or under I might conosider?

Great point. I haven't used the G95 so wasn't aware but that's good feedback. I bought the dummy battery for when I do longer filming, but I do a mix of about 75% photos/25% video, I think the crop sensor on the G95 would be tough in a lot of situations for 4K video, as getting wide is already hard with the micro 4/3 lenses. My normal process is shoot in raw+jpeg, pull raw photos into Lightroom, edit, export to JPEG. I'm pretty happy with the shots out of the camera, working with raw is a lot better IMO, unless you need stuff very quickly. For the other commenters asking if this would be a good YouTube camera, I'd have to say there may be better options at the price point, even the G85 (although it's starting to show it's age in some areas).

Edit: For reference, purchased the G85 last May for $700 with kit lens and telephoto. To some of the folks asking for other options, I looked quickly and can't find a better option at this price point currently. Would probably be solid for YouTube at 1080p, as it also shoots 120.
