Great price on these; they only hit $99 a few times a year. While they're not going to blow you away, these are very nice for budget speakers to add an Atmos effect.
I have 2x pairs (4 speakers) in a 7.1.4 Atmos setup, ceiling mounted/downfiring, and they really make the overhead effect work great in movies. Do keep in mind that these are "budget" speakers though - at $49 each, they're not going to compare with the high-end stuff. Running these in a setup of all "Sony Core" speakers and 3 klipsch subs, they blend nicely (as expected). I have heard that even the pricier $399 pairs aren't THAT much better than these.
I briefly tried these as "height" speakers (mounted on the front and rear walls at top height, above the L/R channels) and they definitely help with giving a larger soundstage, but the atmos effect was relatively minimal. You really want downfiring from a ceiling to get the atmos effect.
I haven't tried them as upfiring speakers, but they do include a mount which connects on top of the sony Core tower speakers and looks very nice. These are decently heavy and a nice design, even with the grills removed.
These go on sale frequently (between $100 - $150) but I would have been satisfied with them even at $199/pair.
