Best price on a great set of refurbished headphones. I bought my refurbished set from this same seller on eBay about 3 years ago for $230. They've flown around the world with me and then some. I use them every day and I've had zero (0) issues. They still look and work like new. They're extremely comfortable to wear, they sound awesome and the noise cancelling is legendary. Highly recommended.

The 4s have on ear detection and multi-point, and they probably also officially have better sound quality and noise cancelation, but the big upgrades are the detection and multi-point

I still have the original 1000X and compared with new versions each year.
They added all the bells and whistles, but it's not significant enough to pay the difference.

Could anyone help me understand what sets the newer XM4 apart from this set, the XM3? Wondering if it's worth the extra money.

How about vs XM2? Either getting XM3 or XM4 an upgrade?

It's an upgrade if you actually use those features.

For me, no.
App was cumbersome and didn't add much value. Didn't care for fast charging and longer battery life. Sound quality and noise cancelling sounded pretty much the same.
Oh, my XM3 had ghost touch issue in a cold weather, which was the main reason why I went back to the original.

XM4 didn't change much from XM3. I'll probably wait until mine breaks or there's a significant upgrade.

The refurbished XM4 was only like $22 more. If you NEED headphones, this is an alright deal at best

I have the 1000x's sibling, the MDR-100ABN. They're 4 years old and the pleather on the pads have shedded off. I'm not replacing these headphones until they clunk out.

The online forum AudioSceinceReview.com has an indepth review of the XM4 headphones complete with AP tests of their distortion, frequency linearity, and power output among other things. The conclusion of these tests showed that the XM4 was one of the worst testing headphones ever seen.

https://audiosciencereview.com/fo...one.19828/

Presumably all wireless headphones sound bad compared to decent wired headphones. Even a pair of $50 headphones can outshine the XM4. So there's no pressing need to "upgrade" from a 1000x or any other previous Sony model if audio fidelity is your chief concern.

Got a pair of XM2s a few years back for $80, when they still had issues with cracking headbands. Made a custom aluminum headband to replace the brittle plastic one, and the headphones will probably outlive me now.

Any pictures or details on what you did? Mine has a fracture and probably a matter of time before it breaks

Some guy in the Apple Airpods Max thread says you're poor if you buy this.
