I liked the game at first until i realized that it is not as Open World as it pretends to be. If anything this game is more on rails with some background you can traverse that doesn't really add anything gameplay wise. It is no Fallout 3 or 4. Maybe 2 will be better but if you have a backlog I suggest you wait on this one.

I started a save in a game pass trial and didn't finish it. Anyone know if I can salvage the save file? This was through Microsoft. I would start over but I got halfway through.

If you mean salvage it to play on PC, I don't think that's possible - I could have used that for many games in the past. You'd probably have to get an actual GamePass membership to finish it. Which I would think is worth it - 1 month of it is less money than this deal.

There should be a folder in your directory containing the save file. You can try to copy this file into the new folder created when you install the game. I don't if it will work, but it can't hurt to try.

I'll be the contrarian and say I did not enjoy this game very much. I loved Fallout 4 and was hoping this would be similar, but I found the combat to not be very satisfying and the game play very tedious. I stopped playing after leaving the first planet.

This is me with 99% of games today. For the first hour or so, I figure out the gameplay, the controls, see how the narrative is going...and stop once I see this is all I'll be doing for 60 hours, just with different mobs/bosses - in a different setting - with a new weapon.

I had a BAT file specifically for this at launch. The M$ store version wouldn't support my gamepad, but ANOTHER version I found online did. So, would fish it out of one directory and slide it back and forth depending on which I launched (move file to the controller version if I was on the couch, move the file back to PC for WASD if I launched from there).

Saved Games folder should have a folder for The Outer Worlds (likely 'The Outer Worlds Windows 10'). Backup those files, Install this version, copy those over to the new folder. So long as your save files are from an earlier version of the game, should be good to go.
