No neutral required. This kit can be used to add 3 way capability to an existing single pole switched overhead light fixture - the included remote can be wall mounted anywhere with a separately purchased Lutron wall plate bracket. Note that there can be issues with these "no neutral" switches and certain LED lights where a bit of "bleed through" voltage across the hot wires can cause certain LEDs to glow faintly even when "off", so keep that in mind if using this with existing LEDs.
