It's a good question. Yes, it's very effective and I have done it to myself, 3x a week, and seen improvements.

This science behind it is basically your body is trying to fix itself because it's been punctured by the little needles. The needles allow the products to reach the epidermis and the dermal layer. I use mine with vitamin c and tretinoin (a strong ret A that peels your skin). The lady in the link below did it to her sagging c-section scar.
I'd definitely recommend the stamp over the roller.

I hate to sound like an advertisement, but it really works. It's done amazing things for my acne scars and hyperpigmentation.

Try Tretinoin. It's a pure retina, way stronger than anything you can get over the counter, and you will 100% peel from it. It's great for wrinkles, discoloration, and just peeling your skin. The biggest side effects is redness. Aha is also weak compared to what my skin can handle. I have it has a toner because it doesn't do anything.

I avoided Retin-A in the past to combat acne due to the side effects I saw a friend go through using it, but have pretty much used everything else including Cleocin-T, Differin 0.3%, Epiduo Forte, etc. All of them I think my face starting getting used to and not be effective, so I'm down to good 'ol benzoyl peroxide 2.5% and 14% glycolic acid (which is basically just a moisturizer at this point).

Still interested in hearing about that site if you can PM it and which Vitamin C serum you use after microneedling. I just started using this Olay one and Eva Naturals Vitamin C Serum Plus a few weeks ago, and not seeing any difference with old acne scars/hyperpigmentation yet.

I'm trying out this vit.c for fun. Usually the good ones are 21% or 22% attached to them. 22% is harder and more expensive, so most people say it isn't worth it. I've tried this brand, it's pretty good, but you have to put it in the fridge and away from light. It oxides really fast. It's a k beauty brand and it's shipped and sold by the company. :

I'm guessing your friend had a lot of redness and burning when she tried it. I lot of people don't know that you're suppose to go with the lowest % first to see if your skin can tolerate it. Also, you apply it 20 minutes after your skin was wet. It'll irratate the crap out of your skin if you don't. I'd highly recommend you giving tretinoin a try, it's seriously a game changer.

I suffer from hormonal acne. I use Tretinoin, a few stuff from The Ordinary and a supplement called "vitex" daily, microneedle 3 times a week. The vitex has seriously stopped my breakouts and tretinoin has fixed the scars it left behind from years ago. I'll pm you the site.
