This is the same price at Walmart in store if you need it sooner. I'm going to hold off on this one. Reviews show that it's lacking a lot of features that made previous Mario golf games shine.
I'm still waiting for Mario Strikers on switch 😪
This game is missing the replays, highlights, and online tournaments older ones had. It also has a series low 5 courses. Not worth it to bite above $40 unless you are really hard up to play this for some particular reason.

This is false. There are 6 - 18 hole courses plus a battle course with 4 iterations and another (presumably battle) course coming as free DLC.

No, no saved replays just like the last installment World Tour on 3ds. This was disappointing just like it was 5+ years ago. At least we have video capture on Switch, but it's not the same.

I bought it, I've played a decent amount of standard play, and just beat Adventure mode. I've played every game in the series. The game is definitely on the easy side like most of them, unless you play point (match) mode against the CPU, I dare you to show that's easy.

Adventure (rpg) mode is a showcase of the game, and is on par with the other portable rpg modes unless you have the attention span of a Toad. There are 6 - 18 hole courses (despite the misinformation in this thread) plus a battle mode which is 4 tweaks of the same course, and we know another course (likely a battle course) is coming via free DLC. Online play is present as long as you have their paid online program. ($20 individual per year, $35 for a "family"... under $5 per person).

As for the new modes/ gameplay, when they were revealed I wasn't impressed. After playing them I have very mixed reactions, nothing too negative so far. At times it feels like a party game, more Mario Kart than golf (battle mode). This would be great for multiplayer. The shot mechanic works great for golf, and honestly feels more true to the game. No more can you take that high risk shot knowing you can nail the impact input. It didn't take long for me to realize I was playing Mario Golf just like Is play regular golf.

That was the surprising thing to me. As I was playing simultaneous play, I hit a shot from a ways away. My character picked up his clubs and I was moving him towards the hole when I was stopped. I sunk the shot and had no idea. As I look at the shots, risk I was taking, it was very close to what I'd do in real life. It was shocking to see a Mario Golf game, with goofy Mario obstacles was the closest simulation to actually playing real life golf for me.

All that said, it's an arcade golf game. If you don't have much for an attention span, the story mode is not for you (just like the other portable rpg modes). The gameplay is different, and sacrifices the impact input for fade/hook input. You also have the "speed" aspect which gives it a racing feel.

It's not for everyone, but I for one am a fan so far. It has standard gameplay, and the new gameplay changes the formula up considerably. My only big complaint is no saved replays with a dynamic camera, otherwise it's great imo.

This has been very close to my experience. If I only planned on purchasing one game this year, this certainly wouldn't be it.

That said, there is a pretty competent golf game at the core. There are 108 holes on release (vs 126 for the last Mario Golf) and then throw in battle golf and speed de a Mario sports game (for better or worse).

I was excited for speed golf, but it has definitely taught me I enjoy watching the ball travel and setting up my shot. It works really well in multiplayer to keep the game moving, though. Have tried online a couple times with buddies on Discord and it's been good, frantic fun.

Been waiting for more content for Mario Party since I bought it at launch. I don't remember the older games having so few maps, but maybe my memory is just going bad now. Feel like other than BOTW and a couple of other titles, the switch's catalog is severely lacking.

I was extremely disappointed with the lack of maps. They could've at least allowed us to earn new maps. But instead of any updates, we get Mario Party Superstars, a new game, with retro maps...
