For those that are not aware, Newegg went public on Nasdaq, just a month ago, with Chinese investors. They were bad before, but just wait. I'm done with them. Just last month, SD was advertising Newegg's IPO on their own advertising bulletins, knowingly or not.

if you compare dram-less nvme, their power consumption are about the same.
case in point, 980 is maxed out at 4.3W (and about twice as fast both on read and write)
SN550 is maxed out at 3.9W (and about 50% faster on read)

so if you REALLY value about battery life, you should care about performance per unit watt. 980 consumes 30% more power but performs 100% better, so for a given task, it is actually uses 40% less power, all for 10 dollar more.

honestly, given the 980's price tag and performance, i don't know why anyone would go for anything else for general home use(esp at MSRP)

I've used Macrium Reflect twice in the last 6 months and both times worked out perfect.

Be aware, that if you clone to a smaller SSD than your HDD, Windows might not let you downsize the partition enough due to unmovable files even if you're using less space than the new drive.

For those that are not aware, Newegg went public on Nasdaq, just a month ago, with Chinese investors. They were bad before, but just wait. I'm done with them. Just last month, SD was advertising Newegg's IPO on their own advertising bulletins, knowingly or not.

For Windows, go to Control Panel, Backup & Restore (Win 7), Create a system image and Create a system repair disk. Swap the HDD/SSD and SSD. Boot from the repair disk, recover from the image. If Windows gives error on the boot after the recovery, boot into safe mode once. If new SSD is larger, then extend the partition. If there is a recovery partition, delete it with diskpart and then extend. No any 3rd party software involved, you just need a CD/DVD drive and, if too many DVD disks needed, an external drive.

Google "Mini Tool" it's free. Also Macrium ( similar to Acronis) has a free version.

Go with the Inland over this. It's a lot faster, around 800TBW, and it's pretty much just a Phison E12 reference board with the name Inland slapped on it. Will give a 980 a run for it's money.

I have two 1TB versions of the Inland in my main rig. They say 3100/1900 speed, but I consistently get 3500+/2200+ on an AMD X570 board.

Just make sure you get the Inland Premium that says PCIe 3.0 x4.

Why people are buying outdated pcie 3.0 I dunno but at least get something that is gonna saturate it.

I lost enough ssd in my time that I just stick with Sammy personally, but this info on Newegg going Chinese is interesting.

Better stay away from Newegg. They gone south these years. Last order took 2 weeks still no one know where it is and their CS only answer is waiting.
Their tracking system is a joke. Waste your money bet on a not reliable supplier.

Unless a REALLY hot deal, I assumed we all stopped buying from Newegg ages ago? I mean, the fact they REFUSE to deal with you on any CPU returns or issues and instantly direct you to the manufacturer is absurd.

The only time I dealt with the CPU manufacturer (intel) they were stellar. No real hassle, sent a new chip, never an issue.

Can confirm. Bought some ram from them during BF sale. Over a month later it had not come. I didnt need if right away so I didn't bother, but after a month, I contacted them to see where my stuff was. Took another 2 weeks for them to get back with the "your items had gone out of stock, would you like to wait another X weeks for us to restock?"

Never again. Now that they have gone public with the chinese, neweggs will remain on my blacklist indefinitely. Used to be a great place to find things for cheap.
