I just recently got one of the cheaper bidets and after having it, heated water doesn't seem necessary at all. It's more like washing your hands, experience-wise.

If you have a light switch on the same wall as your toilet, then you can run wiring down from there to an old work box and a GFI plug as long as the wiring at the switch box includes a hot, neutral, and ground.

I have always wondered what people do with the ones requiring electricity since there's usually no outlets near commodes.
Do they use an extension cord or pay an electrician a few C-notes to install one??

We got a similarly priced one from Amazon... Not heated or anything... Honestly I think it's one of the best investments we have made. I don't think the lukewarm/"cold" water is bad personally. The bidet is especially nice if you had spicy food and if your body generally disagrees with it. I'm sure we have used less toilet paper since having this too

Then your aim is definitely off. Ha ha

Or else you put in the bidet backward.

I live in S. Florida and have one of the Luxe Bidets (different brand) and it has been a lifesaver. Wouldn't be able to use the hot water one anyway and have had no issues with cold water only but then again we are a warmer climate. Even in the two days it was cold last year it was just fine but I obviously don't live in freezing temps. I can't go without a bidet now, it is odd to say but it is truly life changing. I bought in January 2020 and I would've said it was the best purchase I've ever made even if we didn't have a TP shortage. That just added to the bonus of buying one of these.

Also my dad just had knee surgery and got one of these for his second knee replacement. Said it was a lifesaver for him too. Said it was a (pun intended) pain in the a** trying to wipe after his surgery. So a word of advice to any who may be going through the same thing.

Fancy ones have heated seats, motorized lids, different motorized wash configurations etc.

It's a matter of conditioning. Couple weeks of using cold water makes your buttocks insensitive to it
