Way too overpriced. It just screams "Steal Me".
nothing about a black packpack with next to no branding screams 'steal me' to me, but i guess i don't steal stuff that often.

their bags retail for nearly $300 and are warrantied for life - so perhaps a jansport or something is more your style.

I have the V2 of this on 20L. In my experience, the straps aren't comfortable for lengthy trips. YMMV since it's subjective.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I've had this bag for over 3 years now. Used it daily for urban photography, ran it for two summers of weddings, and 3 years of nightlife photography in some rough environments. Tossed it around, abused it, got caught in downpour and it held up fantastically. After 3 years of hard use a main zipper finally failed and detached from one side of the bag. I sent a few pics to peak design and they sent me a brand new V1 bag. As other's mentioned the internal storage isn't ideal if you have lots of smaller items. The side pockets have some organization for batteries and accessories but all my small items ended up going in the top pouch.

It's perfect if you have a DSLR with a 70-200, a 24-70, a couple of prime lenses and a super wide like the sigma 14-24 I run, still has space for a flash and a modifier. I would highly recommend peak design as a company and this bag if you're using it for photography. For other purposes it may be overkill and not well optimized.

The laptop padding is okay, not great but not the worst. The side pockets hold tripods in well enough but not the most ideal scenario. This bag can hold around 50 pounds of gear easily but it will kill your back especially if you're running around a lot like at a festival. It's not the most ergonomic for long periods.

Overall highly recommend for someone looking for a well-built photography bag.

Any idea if this can fit a 200-600 lens(Sony) with a camera attached to it?
Yeah you'd have to run the flex fold dividers flat vertically along one side and store the lens vertically. You'd have to be careful when opening the bag this way.

Would something like this be good as a diaper bag?
I bought my wife the everyday tote bag in whits and she loves it. I have carried it out around as well and it's been very useful as a diaper bag for our newborn.

No. I use it for weekend trips as a carry on for the flight but not a diaper bag. There's not enough storage spots in my opinion. Nothing to keep the bottles warm/cold and not a lot of slots for misc items.
For a diaper bag, I use the Everyday Backpack Zip 15L. It's small enough to fit under the Uppababy Minu (and of course Vista etc).

I have a change of clothes in the bottom section along with a sweater. Middle section is diapers and wipes. Top section is random toys, food pouches and other stuff that I "forget" to organize.

The back laptop is where I keep the changing pad and the collect all pocket I put a pacifier and mask (#covidtimes).

Side pockets I have a water bottle and the other side is hand sanitzer and sunscreen.

Hope that helps!

I've also owned the v1 30L version. Too large as everyday commuter backpack, but great for longer trips to carry your camera and other tech gear. It has loads of small compartments for some small things like wallets, keys, passport etc. Also it has tons of straps so you can strap on other gear like tripods, yoga Matt's or even sleeping bags. So it's quite versatile if you ask me. I agree though that the straps don't make this a great backpack for longer walk or hikes. Mine turned really squeaky after some time, but thanks to the lifetime warranty PD send me a new V2 version recently.

I have this bag and it's pretty great. Aside from the storage functionalities of the bag, the biggest thing for me was the look of the bag. If you're not carrying a tripod on the side pouch, it doesn't look like a camera bag and that's a pretty big deal with all the camera theft/robberies being reported lately. The configuration of the main storage works well enough and as another user wrote that smaller items can slip through the gaps - that's true. I've put small items into their own pouch and that has eliminated the issue.

I'm only able to carry one camera along with 1-2 lenses, shoulder strap, strobe with a few accessories and my Surface Pro. Being able to carry a second camera would be great, but would need a larger bag which treads into the category of "what is that guy carrying and should I rob him?". It's easy enough for me to stow my Mavic Pro or Mini drone with controller and when I'm carrying them in combo with a mirrorless camera. It's roomy enough to pack my Occulus along to bring for show and tells when visiting friends.

All in all, at this price I wholly recommend it. I do use it for most everyday carries, since it's not always used for my camera gear. It is expensive at regular price and on sale now, although pricey, is worth it in how you can use it and how well it's built.

Good to know about the squeaky. I've been trying to find the source of that squeak as it is mildly annoying. Thanks!

I got one of these during the last deal like this.

Pros:
Nice material. Good pockets for tech stuff -- laptop sleeve, short pocket for cords and stuff. And it looks nice.

Cons:
It's way heavier than most other things if you want a daily backpack. Something like an Osprey is half the weight, has more pockets and is more functional "as a backpack".

I use mine for the tech pack on trips. It's great for throwing the iPads, phones, all the chargers, and the tech pouch in. It may be great for camera gear, but as a daily backpack it's way too heavy IMO.

I have this and not a fan. Bought into the hype. Not enough separators. Smaller items like keys, cards, USB drives, wallet, etc will fall through to the bottom in minutes through gaps on the edges of separators. Lack of padding within on the separators and outer layer. Smaller cameras like your mirrorless variety will tumble around inside. Lots of space though. Magnetic latch is pretty useful as well but in the end i went back to my case logic after a month because I felt my gear was way more secure in it.
Not questioning your experience with it but I'm curious why you don't put the smaller items in the side flap pockets. There is ample and completely secure storage for small items there. I think those pockets are meant for stuff like keys, cards, usb drives, portable HDDS, cables, etc.
As for the smaller gear like Mirrorless cameras, you can adjust the dividers to create a smaller space, though i will say that, to me, the only thing that would make this bag even better would be if it came with a couple velctro straps you could use to secure down your more precious gear. Not every compartment you create will be a one-size-fits all for everything in that compartment so a velcro strap or two to really tie it down would be awesome.

This is helpful for me. I had looked into the everyday backpack a few years ago as a diaper bag but was disappointed to find out how heavy it was. I ended up using the Sling 10L. That seemed to be good, but for longer outtings it seemed too small and wasn't as comfortable to wear. Definitely great for short trips and I can even throw my mirrorless in it. I forgot they released the Zip version shortly after (maybe it had a different name on the early release), but I was concerned about the zipper access design how it goes all the way around. I do like the 15L-20L options though. I have been using just an Osprey 20L and it's the right size but has no organization or easy access of a Sling. The totepack also looks interesting.

edit: nevermind it was the Duo I was thinking of

I also have the bag, I'd agree with you except that the small items are simply not designed to go in the main compartment, the side inside zipped side pockets have no less than 10 separate pouches for the items you describe. In terms of the separators… incredibly versatile, you just have to be creative.

I'm a huge fan of peak design and own a bunch of their stuff including this backpack but in V2.

I have to say this is one of the least comfortable backpacks, photography or not, that I've ever owned. The straps are just terribly thin and stiff, which doesn't make any sense because photography gears are usually fairly heavy. Remind you mine is V2, which supposedly already has improved straps compared to V1, so I really can't imagine the straps on V1. It's truly a shame because other than the straps I like the bag a lot.

The issue other people mentioned about smaller items drifting around is, IMO, a design choice from PD. They want you to buy their small pouches for those small items and use them together with this bag. I own the tech pouch and it's probably one of my favorite things from PD if anyone's looking for something in that regard.
