Guacamelee has some of the best 2D combat I've ever played (maybe the best?), wrapped up in a good Metroidvania. Can't recommend it enough. The sequel plays it real safe, with more of the same, but that's not a bad thing by any means. Do get the complete edition of the second one; the DLC is lots of fun and challenge.
One of, if not the best 2d platformers of this generation

Guacamelee doesn't show discounted when using the link or in the e shop. Something I don't know?

So is Guac 2 Complete just the sequel + DLC?

Yes, correct.

Anyone have thoughts on Mercenaries Saga? Reviews I saw were lukewarm. Went for Banner Saga at $5 but always interested in a decent tactics RPG

Would any of these be good for young kids 5 and almost 4?

Serious question...New Switch owner here. Any reason to buy these if you already have them for PC? I've heard the Switch is basically a bigger Android phone. Thoughts?

That's all up to you.

If you play on the road, and are actually going to be on the road, then consider it.

If you spend a lot of time at home and already have them there, don't bother.

I'm personally just about done with consoles. I'm seriously considering a hand-held gaming PC for the road. They exist, and they're sort of in their infancy, but I look at the prices of games on the Switch versus the exact same game on PC, especially when you have discount key options, the prices for the games are nuts. A handheld PC seems to be the way to go. For reference up until recently I thought a hacked PSP was probably your best bet. I have handheld Nintendo systems (not the Switch) and I like them all, but it gets cluttery fast.

Both Guacs are great although personally I enjoyed 1 more than 2 (also note that 2 starts immediately after the events of 1 so going in without playing the first would be tough). I preferred the original, but both are definitely worth it, especially at this price The developer's (Drinkbox Studios) other game, Severed, is also on sale for $3.74 and worth it for the price.
I played through 2 without playing 1. It's a silly video game story. I can't think of a single video game that is tough to pick up playing a sequel without playing the first ones. It is a good game. Mostly for combat and platforming. It has a metroidvania style map, but I wouldn't say there is much exploring. The game is very linear.

It's a good day for Indies--

I bought hypnospace outlaw
(basically a love letter to the beautiful cluster**** that was the 90's internet)

And Nowhere Prophet
(Slay the Spire clone)

both for less than they've ever been on Steam.

Depends on your setup and your games, but yes, essentially every console is a cheap PC with a few exclusives (and in this case portability and touch screen). People usually have TVs and controllers for their console, but there's no reason you can't do the same for PC.
