Unlike prior versions of this laptop, the most recent (11th Gen Intel) models have soldered RAM. So $1,100 for 8GB of RAM with no upgrade possibility seems pretty abysmal. And to put this price into context, you can get the 15.6" model (albeit with the i5 processor) with 16GB of RAM at Costco for $999: https://www.costco.com/lg-gram-15...48681.html

Were you able to confirm this? I even sent LG an email asking and they said the new models only have one slot but you can upgrade it. From what I read previous models had 2 slots. Without a definitive answer I can't consider buying any 8 gb version even on a good deal so it would be helpful to know.

See the linked video. At about 5:45, he takes the back off of them. The memory is soldered.

I have last year's model. It has one soldered stick and one slot. Now they're both soldered.

Oh woah had no clue the older version had a slot. Are the older versions determined by the 16:9 resolution?

The 17 inch version is 16:10 (2560 by 1600). I believe the others are 16:9.

At this day and age, if they are going to solder in the memory, they should at least solder on 16GB and charge $100 more.
