Another so called tech Troll. Nobody is buying this for doing any serious gaming in the first place. And where are you seeing single Channel Ram? Do you even know the meaning of single channel and dual channel ram and how they work or just throwing some jargons which you've picked up here and there? You didn't understand the 8GB (4GBx2) DDR4 3200 MHz Ram part, right?

It is a 14" Laptop; where do you see the numeric keypad in the first place?

3500U is based on Zen + architecture and using 12nm process whereas 5300U is based on Zen 2+ 7nm node, which is a tweaked version of Zen 2 used in Ryzen 4000 mobile processors. It has 12% to 15% single threaded performance and around 10% multi-threaded performance advantage over 3500U but consumes less power due to 7nm node.
Also, you will be surprised to know that AMD Vega 6 iGPU on this Processor actually performs better than the Vega 8 in Ryzen 5 3500U, due to higher clockspeed for the GPU die and faster 3200 MHz DDR4 memory. Ryzen 3000U series only supports 2400 MHz DDR4.

How does Ryzen 3 5300u compared to Ryzen 5 3500u? Base and turbo speeds are higher in 5300u.

Ryzen 3 5300U!? Thats something new. 🤣 Do you mind correct your title so that people wont get confused OP
#1 - I would suggest following the LINK for a post to see what it says before saying the post is wrong.

#2 - YES...The Ryzen 3 5300U IS a relatively new product....
https://www.amd.com/en/products/a...en-3-5300u

Dunno what it is...but it seems that these CPU companies put out new models all the time...
Wonder why they do that....

I collect and sell rocks....Can't recall the last time I sold a new model.

There are likely not many direct comparisons...but it should be safe to say the Ryzen 3 5300u would be the victor.

https://laptopmedia.com/compariso...g-special/

In this case....the Older Ryzen 3 4300u generally beats the Ryzen 7 3700u, which is clearly superior to the 3500u you are talking about.

The 5300u is clearly better than the 4300u...if nothing else the Cache is 50% greater.

And of course, the efficiency is much greater.

ANEMIC gaming performance from that Vega 6 GPU, made worse by single channel RAM. Very old games only!

If you want better, you need Vega 8 and 16gb dual channel RAM.

I would get the 2x2 wifi, although I don't know if HP is so cheap as to leave out the extra antenna if you decide to swap out to an intel 2x2 card.

How do you know it's single channel? I am pretty sure it's dual channel.

I have the 4800u version of this laptop, upgrading was super easy for both ssd and ram. That said the screen isn't nearly as bright as I'd like but for 380 this is one of the best processors you're gonna get. Keeps up with my 1700x in nearly every way
