If you have Paypal Key you can get this to work as a Mastercard Debit funded by the Discover. Opens up lots of opportunities.

Log in to your PayPal account and create the PayPal key. Set the Discover card as the payment method for it. You will have a new "virtual" card number, expiration date, and security code that you enter in just like any other credit/debit.
As previously mentioned, this awesome with PayPal Key linked to your Discover card. You can treat it like a debit card to avoid a lot of fees, and use at places that don't normally accept PayPal (like Amazon), allowing you to get the 5% bonus on the Discover

I am not able to set up a key for my account. I called PayPal and they said it is a new feature that is available to accounts by invite only and is currently available for about 10% of users.

I have a bank account linked to PP, it has been since I started with them. Later, I linked a Citi Double Cash card and the Discover card to my PP account. So they are available as a source of funding for PP purchases and work fine for that. However, PP has been wanting my SS# and DOB for years now, and I never gave it to them. Since I've had the account for around 20 years now, they've given up on asking for it, until I tried to add this "key" to the account. They want the last 4 digits of my SSN now, and my date of birth. I have no idea why but I don't want to give them information they have no good reason to have. I've been with them enough years that that shouldn't be necessary. I'd rather do without the key, I don't really have to have it - would have been nice to get an extra bonus but I would rather do without than give them more info.
I suspect it's related to laws that make them more responsible about knowing who they're dealing with (doing financial/banking business with)... and maybe in case they have to report income to the IRS in case you receive over a certain amount.

For those who may not know, the max cash back per quarter is $75, i.e. 5% on up to $1500 in purchases.

Edit: just noticed that the deal description mentions the $1500 max…
I cannot find the 5% calendar. My is just the regular 2%.

Yes. I have linked paypal key to walmart pay. So whenever I pay in store using walmart pay, transaction shows as Paypal purchase. Gives me 5% back. I purchase walmart gift cards, so I can use them at sam's club as well. Very useful for Sam's club gas pump.

Yes. Both online and in store. But you dont need to use paypal key on walmart dot com because walmart has seperate paypal checkout process, so you dont necessarily need paypal key. But you can use paypal key on amazon for 5% back.

Ah, there are more online stores accept PayPal than I thought, i.e. Besbuy, Dell, Lowe's, Ikea, Expedia, Microsoft, Uber, eBay & so on.

That's nice that Walmart Pay allows adding PayPal Key as payment method, so in-store purchase(s) can still earn Discover 5%
