I had difficulty dealing with Step 1: Stop obsessively checking Slickdeals for more digital stuff I could get.

I'm tempted to get this just for the entertaining inherent irony...based on the description the publisher/author is trying to convince me to get another digital item (this ebook) only to tell me to stop doing that (collecting and spending so much extra time on digital things like this ebook) and keep my digital life as minimal as possible (not necessary null, just as little as possible, which this book would also fall under) and then I'll be much calmer, & happier...so basically they're telling me NOT to buy this ebook, but at the same time I should buy it first so that I'll realize it was a bad choice, but also a good one in other ways. This alone could make a great entertaining philosophical conversation with people who like discussing ideas (as opposed to discussing things or people). This irony right here is a great reason to get the ebook.

Newport is an advocate for eliminating barriers to success and productivity. This book doesn't contain a chapter trying to convince the reader that paper has more value than digital print. It is more about how habits pertaining to digital use hinder people from their goals. I found it worth the read, but not as practical as Deep Work.

Digital minimalism sounds very appealing as we wrap up a school year of zoom calls and Facebook watch parties. I look forward to a world where enough folks are able to be vaccinated that we can start to accomplish this!

Great author but haven't read this book. Not picking this up because frankly his appearance on Lex Fridman's podcast was plenty informative on his stances.

Care to elaborate? Lex is great, most of his views seem rooted in logic. Any direct criticisms of these "stances" or are you just painting with broad strokes?

Does no one see the irony of offering this as an ebook?

in high school I read "Steal This Book" by Abby Hoffman. Does this new one have a chapter on avoiding torrenting?

If that is true you might want to stop using the worst psychology possible. I'm vaccinated yet think vaccination preachers come off as people who need to smear their feces on everything. Vaccinations have nothing to do with this deal or the content of the book, keep it inside you. It's like asking, "Have you ever heard about Jesus Christ our savior?" Um, yeah, I have. Bringing these things up is a slur at this point.
