For those wondering about the $6,000 credit, it's only for jumbo loans.

"A jumbo loan is a mortgage used to finance properties that are too expensive for a conventional conforming loan. The 2021 loan limit for a one-unit property in most of the country is $548,250. In many high-cost areas, such as San Francisco, New York City, Alaska and Hawaii, the 2021 loan limit for a one-unit property is higher, at $822,375. Homes that exceed the local conforming loan limit require a jumbo loan."

Just FYI for anyone who plans to use this, you will have to pay taxes on it as it's considered income.

Rocket actually beat Better for me, closing tomorrow. But I guess I missed this though, would have made it even better.

Call up your processor and see if they'll add it. If it's not closed, it's not done.

Called both Rocket and Amex - they won't add it. Would have to start over.

Quicken/Rocket is def a little higher than other online brokers, but their process and customer service is great. I refinanced a 30yr @ 3.75% last year, to a 20yr @ 2.75% (both with Quicken/Rocket). Super easy process, and they matched an offer I had from an independent broker. Recently locked with Better on a 15yr @ 2.125%, no points, and $2k Amex credit. Better underwriting requested a significant amount of info, extensive access to my financials, and only locked for 30 days. I was a little apprehensive about Better anyway, after reading about the loan servicing and closing time frame/lock issues.

Quicken/Rocket contacted me when they got the payoff request. They couldn't touch the 15yr rate, but offered 20yr @ 2.5%, no points, no appraisal, and waived most of the origination, but refused to add the Amex offer (I locked on 6/28, and offer started on 6/29). Quicken/Rocket CS has always been great and loan servicing has been top notch. A little annoyed that they wouldn't add the Amex offer and overall savings isn't substantial, but it lowered my payment (and total interest) and all I had to do was provide a current paystub and W2. We have always been happy with Quicken/Rocket, for both origination and loan servicing.

Might try for a jumbo right after my HELOC closes, will put me 5k over jumbo threshold in my market. Will be interesting to see how competitive Better/Rocket will be at jumbo level.

Think I can do any better on my 30y 3.5% from 2019 or do rates need to come down more? Think it's a jumbo, Wells Fargo.

Check Bankrate for some sample rates in your area. (showing 2.875-3.0% in my region with no points). Also, depending upon how close your loan amount was to the jumbo threshold in 2019, it may now be a conforming loan because the bands have increased a bit in the last couple of years - dependent upon locale.

Does anyone know if you need to be 'invited' to qualify for this promotion?

I used Rocket Mortgage for a refi last year with the $2500 Amex offer, which I received an email for. Didn't see any email invitation this time.

Now I am looking at refi between Better or RM. I was going to go with Better for the Amex credit, but now that RM has matching one, I'd rather stay with RM since I'm happy with the customer service I got last year.

I just Refi'd w Better.com about 1 month ago and already got my $2000 credits.

Am I allowed to double dip and Refi w Rocket Mortgage and get another 2k?

I don't see anything is the fine print saying you can't

When I refi'd with Better last year, I was not invited - just clicked through the link published here - no issues getting credit.
