If you are considering this kit, it is a good one. Do NOT downgrade the lens to the XC 15-45, it's not a great lens and will hold the camera back. The lens in this kit is very good and well worth the price difference of $300.

The only reason you'd downgrade is if you already own the lens in this combo so you'd have to sell off the lens anyway.

Street price used for the XF lens (this combo) is $300 while the XC lens (the downgrade) is $100

Great camera. I got mine since it came out a couple of years ago from an amazon deal.

Price is okay, but I would rather get the XS10 that has IBIS.

If you know what you are looking for, you can get comparable cameras on the used market for much less. (XT30, XT3, X100V or X100F)

1000% agree here. The kit lens here is fantastic lens and has OIS built in. The lens is very very well liked by fuji users as one of the best all-around lens given the price and size.

I got the XA7 for less than $300 from Amazon and while I love the camera, the absolute lack of any sort of lens deals kills it. Watching SD every week and seeing some sort of Nikon or Canon or even Sony lens go on sale is painful

Any recommendations on marketplaces to look at, other than the obvious eBay?

I've been debating between this an an EOS RP. I really think I'm about to pull the trigger on this one.

I suggest local craiglist or facebook marketplace for local sellers to avoid taxes.

Feel free to DM me if you need additional help/guidance. The fujifilm subreddit is always very helpful: https://www.reddit.com/r/fujifilm/

I wanted to also get a canon mirrorless, like the R or RP, but A) the body weights are pretty heavy for my needs and B) the lenses are very pricey.

fuji lenses NEVER go on sale. I would hit up ebay or aftermarket like FB marketplace or craigslist. im always seeing some decent deals. If you live in a big city, might have better luck with used lenses. you could always get a viltrox lens, those do go on sale often.

XF18-55mm F2.8-4 kit lens has OIS and a pretty sharp for the price. Awesome beginners lens especially for video. Get the kit if you don't own a Fuji lens.

Depends on your use case. The major difference is that with the RP you sacrifice some size and portability but in return you receive a full frame sensor. If you're not aware of what that entails, you don't need it, but that alone is a major difference between the two which should make the decision easier.

Second, ecosystems, most R type lens in the canon ecosystem are generally more expensive than what you can buy in Fuji mounts, a big reason being the fact that R lens are full frame to match the full frame body and geared more towards pros. Canon does have a great native adapter so you can use most ef lens which will be just as affordable or even more so than some Fuji equivalents.

I've owned an X-T30 for a couple years now, and figured I'd throw my thoughts in the ring. I only own two lenses, this kit lens (18-55mm) and a 35mm f/1.4. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either of those lenses for anyone, I'm very happy with both lenses and use both equally as much.

For my shooting style, I feel no big need to upgrade to any of Fuji's current camera offerings, however, if I didn't have the X-T30 and was looking to get a new camera, I'm not sure if it would make it onto my list of considerations.

It seems like the X-T30 has reached its end of life in terms of significant firmware updates, which means no improve AF that the X-T3 got and none of the newer film simulations the X-T4 and newer cameras have. I think the newer X-E4 would be something that I would consider over the X-T30 and if I was doing any sort of video work, I would look into the X-S10. Not saying that the X-T30 is bad or worse by any means, but it is an "older" camera in terms of updates and future firmware updates.

If you don't really care much about the improved AF and newer film simulations and really like the look and size of the X-T30, I think this is a good deal including the kit lens. Just know understand the trade-offs with Fuji's other offerings, and even what other camera companies can offer as well.
