AirPods max is probably the worst design that Apple has ever made. I returned mine because the headphone had water condensation issue even when you wear them for 30 mins, it was gross

Definitely avoid refurb, who knows who have touched them!

I work at the Sony factory putting these things together and I can assure you there is no earwax on these, they are brand new. Also, unlike the other assemblers I wash my hands after using the bathroom so no issues with smells if you get one of mine. Also pretty much you will never find pubes either anymore.

We have a huge amount of traffic behind our house- sometimes booming car stereos rattle the pictures on the walls and a couple local jerks who rev their engines like they're Formula 1 drivers, but mostly it's car/truck engine noise. I have fantasized about noise canceling headphones that I could wear while sitting out in our nice back yard and feel like there's nothing else out there but me and whatever I'm listening to. But I don't know if that's a wildly unrealistic expectation for noise canceling headphones…

You'll still hear them, just muted. If you want to know what it's like, just order a Bose 700 from their website. They have a 90 day trial/guarantee. You can try it to see what it's really like. Return them after. I tried the 700s and the ANC was decent, but I realized after having them that 1) ears get warm after wearing awhile 2) glass wearers are not going like having them on (especially if you take them on and off frequently). So I returned them and bought some refurbished WF-1000MX3 instead for a lot less.
