Google says a lot of things too. Do you really think that they will go through the effort to do so once they shut down? For those of us with a little memory of other cloud services (OnLive, Gaikai, etc.) we all know that those empty promises never materialize. They make these vague statements to get you to sign up but they don't follow through - once they close the service who is going to hold them accountable anyway?

And think about it. If a game like Judgment is not available on Steam / Epic / GoG, how would Google transition your licence to another platform?

So I totally understand your perspective but, to be honest, I think that you bought into the hype of opinion pieces scattered throughout the web. Google made the right move by shutting down their studio... that most likely would be a place where they would loose money. However, their game streaming service seems to have a solid future with a competitive pricing structure that looks like it can generate money to more than sustain itself and really good service.

Their other services that they shut down, like their feed reader, makes complete sense... how are they bringing in money from that besides just another form of data that they probably didn't utilize. Also, they do have a feed reader but in other forms, like google now and google news which makes much more sense.

Basically what I'm saying is that this service makes sense. And, if Mr. Phil Spencer is right, streaming is the future. For someone that played a lot of streaming games within the past 4 months, I would say that that's true myself... and I'm a physical game collector.

For everyone else that has a part of their heart not wanting another service, another launcher, another place for your games to live, I completely agree with you, but just know it's for the better of all gaming that we have more competition.

One final note, I really like Stadia's model for buying a game and never paying them another dime but still being able to stream my game. It's a scary model, but as long as others pay their monthly fee to keep the single-pay model supported, I'll be good.

Yeah, after they notify you months in advance and offer to have all of your music transferred to a successful streaming service like YouTube. Oh wait, that's what happened with Google music. I'm sure you were trying to take a stab but why would a company offer the same service as two different services when they can merge? Typically when one company has multiple services that are similar they are merged, getting rid of the one accruing less profit.This happens all of the time especially when a company buys out a competitor.

Download the YouTube Music app if you don't already have it. Log into your account and go to your library, once there select the category you want, albums or songs, then select the options icon to the right of the album or song and select download.

[Edit] Also, make sure you're in the uploads tab at the top. That's where all Google Play Music transfers went.

I'm not arguing about cloud gaming. I'm saying Google's service is a piece of crap. The games have constant issues running at full resolution and the service is filled with 3+ year old titles. If cloud gaming is the future, it won't be Google leading it. It will be Microsoft or Sony who have many of the best first party studios.

I guess my question would be is why would someone waste money of a product like this and basically be an early adopter guinea pig to play old games with a company that has zero experience in the gaming industry?

I was an actual early adopter and got the founder's edition. I've also been hooked up to ethernet since release when using Chromecast Ultra but have also used Stadia on tablets, phones, Chromebooks, as well as on gaming PCs. I've never had an issue, not a single time, running at full resolution excluding a few titles at 4k when using the original Chromecast Ultra prior to installing a $10 heatsink on it which solved overheating. I also subscribe to GeForce Now, Luna, and Xbox's Ultimate. Stadia, in regards to connection and latency, is by far superior to all of them regardless of their experience in the gaming industry. I have gaming computers, slow phones, fast phones, slow laptops, gaming laptops, Nvidia shield, and more. While they are making other services available as time goes on, Stadia has been consistently better even working on slow devices such as my previous phone, the Motorola G7 Power which was dogpoop. While I do agree the library is lacking, there's new titles being added on a regular basis and unfortunately I still have to resort to using my gaming laptop to play titles like the new Mass Effect remaster, which currently isn't offered on any streaming service. The only reason I subscribe to GeForce Now is because I have over 100 compatible games with the service. I jumped on Ultimate when it first came out, so I bought two years of live and transferred to Ultimate for $1 and shared it with my nephew. Luna just blows at the moment, but I have hopes that will change in the future. I'm sorry but I don't know if you actually tried Stadia and if you had I don't know the conditions but I even used it on a Verizon 4G with that G7 power using a Bluetooth connected Xbox One controller with no issues.

Did you put the heatsink right on the external plastic cover, or remove it, then add a heatsink?

I have 3 tvs and a projector that runs android. I installed stadia on all of them. Just played it on my low end Hisense. The one that was $250 for the 65 inch during black Friday.

Seemed to run fine on it. I am not a hardcore gamer or even a casual gamer. Heck, I almost lost to a very easy cpu on mk11 lol.

I do like the ability to play on most of my tvs just by moving the controller, no need for a dedicated tv for gaming or having a system on each tv.

I have no experience with other gaming services or high end gaming systems. These are just my experience so far as a regular consumer who knows nothing of stream gaming or new systems.

I put the heatsink right on the external plastic cover, I did however use some thermal paste to make it more efficient and used electrical tape to secure it for convenience.
