Stop spreading bogus information. It was software update bug for their server. Plus it affected mostly the Asian countries.

"Due to a software bug during our latest server upgrade at 4:50 AM EST today, a limited number (0.001%) of our users were able to access video feeds from other users' cameras. Our engineering team recognized this issue at around 5:30 AM EST, and quickly got it fixed by 6:30AM EST.

I use two of these mounted in our windows but pointed outdoors. They're cheaper than outdoor cameras. Works well, as long as you cover up the infrared lights which would reflect off the window at night. Just a couple pieces of electrical tape.

Be careful with these, they are not as secure as they advertise!

They released a version that would allow random users of the app to see others' cameras, recorded clips, wifi info, location, etc. Use with caution.

$30 is a regular sale price (oxymoronic, I know) but I strongly recommend these. Cheapest I've seen them in the last few years is $28. There are dozens of threads for this camera but my 2¢:

I've used them covered outside with no issues.
Quality is as good as I've ever needed.
You aren't making very much sacrifice for 24/7 recording.

Personally, I could not care less if some teenager or grandma in Asia can view my cameras due to some rare bug (that they've claimed to fix). I have 8 cameras and you can see most of what I'm looking at on Google Maps, and the rest nobody else would be interested in.

I didn't see a way to turn the infrared off without turning night vision off as well.

Still deciding on positioning, but the plan is to have two pointed at different angles and attach them to a 2x4 I'll paint white. That'll sit on the window sill.

It's the same thing. The camera doesn't just stop working after dark if you turn off night vision.

What about this is bogus? They released a version of their web server API that allowed people to see others cameras. In Software Release Engineering, updating a production server is called "releasing" and usually they are done in "versions."

There were no Asian users affected, the next paragraph in their statement after what you quoted was this.
Quote :
The issue affected users at a small rate in the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina
The last paragraph was this:
Quote :
We realize that as a security company we didn't do good enough. We are sorry we fell short here and are working on new security protocols and measures to make sure that this never happens again.
They admit their security was not good enough. This bug effected accounts with multi-factor authentication. Their encryption did nothing to prevent this. This kind of thing wouldn't have happened with a brand like Reolink which have a password per camera.

These cameras have pet and crying detection, meaning that some people use them to monitor their kids. Some users reported strangers talking to them through their cameras.

Cheapest HomeKit Secure Video camera you can buy. I plan on using them outside, plenty of successful user reports on reddit/SD who have had them out year round.

If you are worried about Eufy privacy, you can use HKSV with the Eufy app.

1. Add the camera to the Eufy app.
2. Link it to HomeKit.
3. Verify camera in Home app.
4. Unplug the camera.
5. Remove cameras from Eufy app. (Delete them)
6. Delete Eufy app. (only after deleting cameras)
7. Plug cameras back in.

Also, Apple is raising the 5 camera limit on HKSV this Fall so you can have Unlimited with certain iCloud plans. 10 days of history. People, Animal, Vehicle detection. Package detection coming as well.

I wonder why Eufy doesn't get as much likes as Wyze. I feel like these Eufy cams have better images than Wyze, having used both. I only used the V2 Wyze cams and not the v3 which seems to be much improved. But still, I'm planning on getting more eufy cams now and switch from Wyze. Both have pros and cons.

Do you know if the limit is only raised on the bigger iCloud plan? Sucks that you currently can only have one camera record with the first two tiers. Can't find an answer anywhere.
