No. Activate, credit gets applied to the account, bill is due at end of the month and covered by credit. Ting is technically postpaid.

It's all postpaid with Ting, you don't pay up front. You got a SIM that somehow didn't have the $30 credit built in. The ones I've used from Target have had no issue.
