Yes, it is.
07-02-2021 at 01:53 PM
It is NOT. It is WVA, as stated on the product page
07-03-2021 at 10:04 PM
"WVA" just means "Wide Viewing Angle". That could mean either OLED, VA, or IPS. My guess is IPS, though... based off of the specs.

There are some other 15.6" 165hz 3ms laptops that are all IPS.

No, it does not.

we may get mux switch via a bios update, like the new i7 g15 model did
07-03-2021 at 10:31 PM
I don't think you can get a MUX switch via bios update as it's a hardware device. Unless, there is a MUX switch already in there and it's disabled for whatever reason.

If it fails or gets broken in the first 2 years, then yes totally worth it, otherwise no complete waste of money. All joking aside, from a strictly statistical perspective, if nothing is wrong in the first 90 days it's very unlikely to have a problem until year 3 and beyond. It makes more sense to get the 4 year warranty than the 2 year.

As for accidental damage that is entirely on you and the people around you.

Accidental protection. Screen develops dead pixels? Oops it fell off the desk. New laptop incoming!

Yes, there are two slots populated with 8GB modules. Super easy to upgrade, just did it.

I don't know on this model, but to find out, in RUN command type " tpm.msc " and you should see " specification version 2.0 " if you do your golden!

Both eliminate the MUX issue, and HDMI 2.1 is much faster than DP1.4, but there isn't a lot of HDMI 2.1 monitor out there, DP1.4 is faster then HDMI 2.0...so really depends on your monitor.

Also, Dell already released BIOS v1.3.3 update for G15 5511(11th gen intel version) that provided MUX switch in BIOS. It has been tested and did improve GPU perf a lot. And it is said that Dell will also release one for this AMD version.
In a nutshell, Nvidia allows Laptop manufacturers to set the power limit for a specific RTX 3000 card, between a lowest and highest value. Value more close to the max limit, more better it will perform. For RTX 3060, the range is from 60W to 130W + 15 watt Dynamic Boost based on the workload. This Laptop has a 115W RTX 3060 which is very close to the maximum power allowed by Nvidia and hence offers better performance than some lowered powered variants, say Asus Zephyrus G14 with 60W + 20W or Zephyrus G15, 85W + 15W.

They need to stop this lowering the price! Going to see if I can price match. If not, will have to return and re-order as I got mine from the initial deal.

Wow Dell is killing it with these prices. I might still pay $100 more for the Alienware M15 r5 with same specs but better build quality and more spacious keyboard (but no numpad)

115 watts version. Just look at the size. If it is heavier than 5 lbs, it's usually the max-p version. It's the skinny light one that's usually max-q.

Would you get this laptop or wait and try to get the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro from in the in-store Walmart deal (for $1,399)? Probably the most intensive game I plan to play is Warzone and maybe BF 2042 and I'm not in a rush to buy either.

Purchased the same at $1224.99 about a month ago. About a week ago the price was reduced to $1199.99 and I made a price match. Now I called dell and try to do price adjustment for it but they told me they only do one adjustment at most.

Do you have a link for that Alienware model? I'm not seeing any that are only $100 more than this. Thanks!
