It's a joke guys.

July 1st is "Bobby Bonilla Day", where the NY Mets pay the retired athlete $1.2M every year through 2035. It was a horrible deal for the Mets (worst deal of all time?), and this is "in celebration" of today's holiday.

Also, Mint Mobile is owned and marketed by Ryan Reynolds, who loves little jokes and pranks. Although on his @VanCityReynolds twitter account, he did say 9 people signed up for this plan, so who knows. I think it's funny.

Sidenote: I paid for a year of Mint service for the SO, and while the customer service is not great (what telco company has great service though?), the cellular service is pretty nice and no dropped calls or dead zones unless we're way out in the boonies. Average download speed in civilization is about 40mbs and about 15mbs up.

ITT: people who don't get the joke of the ridiculousness of a $2500, 25-year phone plan designed around a Puerto Rican baseball player.

Nice prank by Deadpool as usual. They should offer it as add on package to mortgage agreement, almost same term and you won't have to worry about remembering to make a payment at least for your phone service😏

This is funnier than anything I've seen on April 1. Bravo for viral marketing, unless you're dumb enough to actually buy this

BTW, my wife and I have had Mint Mobile for 4 years and it's great for the price.

Nice FAQ too:

THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS, JUST FREQUENTLY ASKED ONES.

Will this plan make me a 6x All-Star?
In sports? Not so much. In life? Absolutely.

Will New Yorkers talk to me if I have this plan?
Everywhere but Queens. Stay away from Queens.

Did Bobby Bonilla and I just become best friends?
Yes. Your friendship with Bobby was Mint to be.

How does my plan renew?
Just like Bobby's contract. Every year we'll drop credit into your account to cover the next year. Score.

What happens after 25 years?
Besides the living on Mars thing? We're not quite sure. Space should be cool though.

Double-checking one more time here, this is a real plan?
It sure is. Happy Bobby Bonilla Day.

Which is good. Because having a Bobby Bonilla joke on April 1st would be stupid.

Awful service from mint, had them for years and was FORCED to switch when they throttled me to 1-2 MBPS in my home area regardless of how much data I used. Will continue to warn people even tho this particular deal is a joke but the company itself is pulling some trickery

Wow risky deal. You lock in yourself 25 years and hoping they stay afloat for 25 years to get your $8 and change worth. If they go belly up, it's no longer the deal anticipated. 😂

I tried Mint and the service was hot garbage. Based on that, I would not expect them to be around in 25 years, 25 months might be a stretch. I would dig through the terms very carefully to find out what happens to your prepaid money if they fold if you're thinking about checking this out.
People say that about EVERY carrier. So what's left? People say red pocket, tello, mint, boost, tmobile, att, verizon all suck.
