The 69QT is also on sale for $19.03 and in stock...

I'm guessing that these wouldn't hold up well for outside use?

No it's not. I've been watching these for months to replace an old one.

I'm wondering the same thing. My use case would be for wood pellets

It might be fine for that though? I was thinking more about Chicken feed or wild bird food... but this looks a lot thinner than what I currently keep my dog food in. I tried to find a photo, but it's like 8 years old and has a circular screw cap. Built like a tank.

How durable? It seems like one good hit and they would crack like storage bins?

Mine has held up fine for like 3 years. Had a rat issue at my last house and they started to chew through it. Used a soldering iron to "weld" some plastic in to repair it.

My dog likes to eat my recycling so I want to get a new dog food bin and use the patched one for recycling.

This container isn't very air tight. The gasket used is foam, not silicone, and was able to "breathe" when I gently compressed the sides in to test.

I bought and returned 5 of them from Amazon that all came damaged from shipping, large cracks up the side/actual holes in the corners, before I gave up and used a rice container from Lock&Lock.

I don't think it would take long before pets would figure out to tip it and let gravity do the work for them.

I wouldn't put this outside, plastic is not trash can style tough. Wheel snapped off due to weight of dog food on mine but I just tossed the other three and keep using it.
I've seen fiery debates online whether these should be considered 'airtight'. My short opinion is yes if you don't expect much. If you fill with water and tip it will leak a lot. Lid has light foam seal and a snap to hold in place. So odor of food is contained but not worthy of space travel or long term storage. Has been fine for pet food.
