So whats the latest behind grain free? I hear it is bad for dogs, but the info is all over the place. I have 3 small dogs and I am about to buy more food...out of anything i have given them, they love grain free Taste of the Wild the most.

When you look at some of these dog treat prices per pound, you'll realize they getting little tiny pieces of filet mignon at those prices.

I won't comment on grain free being good or bad, but I can say I have seen it make a difference for some dogs, especially allergy sufferers.

My vet told me to avoid grain free. I think the grain free offers more options as far as proteins for an elimination diet which could be good for some allergies. But I'm no vet or expert.

What was their reasoning?

I mean so many things in human medicine and nutrition are disagreed between different professionals. I think even more so in veterinary medicine from what I have seen. Especially nutrition as vets get very little nutrition training in their schooling. I have for years now made it a point to get multiple opinions and do some of my own research of trusted sources when making nutrition, diet, supplement, and medication decisions for my dogs along with whatever vets I am seeing.

Based on a FDA study about a possible link to grain free dog foods and heart issues. I'm not knocking it either way but at the time the Vet telling me and reading briefly some information on the study was enough for me to just stuck with normal dog food.

Very interesting. None of my dogs are on grain free now. I am assuming that info came out after I decided to go grain free with a dog. The positive effects for my dog's allergies and skin infections might have been worth the heart risk but I'd have to educate myself more. Thanks for giving me the heads up.

Not a good deal by any stretch. Make your own at home for half the price with better quality ingredients.
