Bought one of these as the family computer.

Bottom line- fantastic value.

Apples have the reputation of being overpriced and underpowered.

I don't think there is a PC that can match its power at this price.

I dislike that the SSD can't be changed. Other than that, seems awesome...

If you are a MacOS user then it is surely the choice anyway.

If you are eligible (military, vet, DoD civilian) price match at AAFES and save the sales tax.

Yup Microcenter is best if you have to have 16gb. That being said, very happy with my 8gb. Glad I didn't spend an extra $200.

Will wait for M1X, as the M2 will also be coming next, I remember my first edition iPad, they drop that support a little two quick for me, but included the second generation.

My guess M2 will eclipse the base M1 so bad, you will find yourself on the drop list. I don't mind the lack of OS support, it's the browser tied to the OS that sucks. Right now my unsupported iPad gets out of date warning from sites, oddly Home Depot is one? Gee Home Depot it might behoove you to code a website to a lower common denominator.

I'm with you on their lack of OG ipad support, but I think this chip is different. The M1X/M2 (whatever they call it) will be targetted for higher end devices, not for the entry level MacBook Air or entry level Mac mini…and I suspect will be in a very different price bracket. Apple did a rare thing here by making the MacBook Air/MacBook Pro/ and Mac mini with essentially the same spec across the board…I think what we'll see this fall is purely going to be for the creative professionals at a much higher price point. If anyone should be concerned about getting dropped from OS support sooner than later, it should be someone who recently bought an intel Mac (which can still be purchased from apple directly oddly enough)

I signed up for Costco emails hoping for one, so we'll see! I also got a Costco Citibank card specifically for this reason
