The Rebate is not from Newegg, it is directly from Gigabyte. I have claimed successfully multiple times rebates from Gigabyte and MSI without any issues.

However, I will strongly disagree the price point for this laptop. This Laptop comes with a 100W (85W + 15W with Dunamic Boost) RTX 3080 which is pretty lower end for a RTX 3080. For example, Alienware m15 R4 can push 145W. Also, this laptop doesn't have Thunderbolt 3.

You can easily get a Legion 5 Pro at this price with a RTX 3070 t 145W which will actually perform same or sometimes a bit better than this low powered RTX 3080. Plus, you'll get a far superior QHD+ 16:10 500 nits display, more powerful Ryzen 7 5800H and far superior battery life. Normally, some folks want to stick with Intel platforms knowing their lower efficiency and performance, due to Thunderbolt as they have already invested in Thunderbolt peripherals. Since, this one does have TB3, that is not adding anything here.

Also the Alienware m15 R4 with 3080 is the same price without any rebate. You also get a 140w version.

The counterbalance other comments, here are the upsize when compared to M15 R4 deal:
1. Smaller footprint
2. Upgradable memory
3. More SSD space
4. Higher screen refresh rate (with gimp GPU, not sure if it any useful)
5. Has MUX
6. M15 will definitely cost more due to tax

Show me a Legion 5 pro with those specs that is comparable in price. Only one I can find in the US costs 2500 on Amazon

Walmart (not 3rd party) sells it for about $1500, but you have to refresh warmart.com 10 times a day for 2-3 weeks then maybe you can grab one before scavengers

Newegg charges tax in my state. Also, the Alienware has advanced optimus too.

How much better is the 11th gen Intel? I feel like I've seen articles saying either go 11th Intel or AMD 5800. Sorry I'm lazy lol I could Google benchmarks but I like discussions like this

Can someone explain how they fit a 3080 in this laptop, meanwhile the 3070 TI i just got for my desktop build is 3/4 the size of the entire laptop? Are graphics cards in laptops equal in power to desktop versions? I know nothing about laptop hardware lol.

They use the same numbers for desktop and laptop parts, but they're not really related. Your 3070ti will be significantly better than this "3080", not to mention that this 3080 only had 8gb of DDR6 (vs 10 or 12gb of DDR6x in the desktop version if I recall), and is limited to use a third of the power. You can set you 3070 ti to a 100w power limit to see why that matters.

As a old user of gigabyte Aorus/Aero I have some rant about this chassis:
The fan noisy is very unpleasant, and I replaced 3 laptops during the first month. I settled down with the fan whining after long period of use, but the GPU fan died about 13 months and out of warranty. I bought one replacement from aliexpress the seller told me this is very typical since he sold lots of replacement just for this new chassis.
The gigabyte control center is pure garbage and slow, it wipes all your custom settings for keyboard, thermal, macro, light even screen calibration files when upgrade, and when it's fired up, eat 30% cpu usage.
I bought a Rog G15 RTX 3080, it also configured with 100w TDP, the performance just abysmal, some people mentioned it might compare to 140w 3070, my own experience is it's just a 100w 3070 level, far from 140w 3070. When you cut power down too much, it just can't provide enough raw power to utilize many cores.
