Probably missing the pen or charger which both aren't deal breakers. You can get a nicer pen for about 25 bucks on sale on Amazon and the charger is a standard 65 W USB-C charger for the 13" Spectre series. A replacement HP isn't that expensive (maybe another 25).
Buyer beware, I watch a electronics repair Youtube channel called NorthRidgeFix and he gets a ton of these HP Spectre x360 laptops with internal components that just blow out or fail and fail to power on or charge.

These have been at Micro Center so long I've watched them come in and out of stock at least once already (so the Houston store had 20, then zero, then some more). I've been watching closely but I dare say the Asus at $800 (harder to find at some Micro Centers) is probably the better buy for an OLED delivery scheme unless you're specifically shopping for 4k.
As a user of a 4k Spectre laptop, I'll tell you that Windows is still an occasional pain with 4k laptop displays. The scaling works fine for modern applications, but plenty of standalone apps try defaulting into ridiculously tiny menus. If you never leave the ecosystem of Microsoft Office and a few browsers, the 4k issue will be a non-issue for you. If you use this for school or other purposes where custom applications come into play, be aware of the issue.

Can you upgrade the RAM on this?
No. For many this is a deal-breaker, but keep in mind that 8GB is likely going to last for a large user base for essentially as long as this laptop could be expected to remain functional.

I realize that this is a sample size of one, but this exact same thing happened to me. I had a late-2017 Spectre x360. It worked fine for about three years, but then all of a sudden the fan went bad. This was not a difficult repair, but I didn't have the time, so I took it to the repair shop. They swapped the fan, but then couldn't get the unit to power up at all and had to replace the motherboard. It made me a little leery of these devices.

The Spectre series has been dogged by some issues since the earliest models. I've had good luck, but your mileage may vary. I'd definitely take some time to get a load going on the laptop and listen for the fan response, while monitoring how it heats up.

Totally agree. I use a 4k 55" TV as a monitor and it can get very small. Can hardly imagine what it would look like on a 15" screen. Though in settings you can make everything larger. Perhaps that does not work with some apps. I think that is what you are saying. Some apps ignore the settings to magnify.

Correct: some apps are not aware of the scaling rules (which of course you should change unless you're particularly eagle-eyed; mine are at 150%) and so build their menus instead into tiny eyecharts (so yeah, it's really bad on a laptop). For me this has been most problematic with some engineering-specific applications. Again, this isn't an issue for apps built by Microsoft, Mozilla, Google, etc.
Good luck!

That means multiple 4k 60hz monitors are possible or 5k.
