Honestly, after having a lot of cars I'm kind of over real leather. The synthetic leather of my old BMW looked as good the day I sold it as the day I bought it. The real leather options I've had all eventually crease and wear no matter how careful I am with maintaining it. Sure the real stuff feels softer and more luxurious but if someone can develop a synthetic version that also feels softer I'm all for it.

This seems like a difficult item to be "universal" for different vehicles -- it sounds like some vehicles have too much space for it to stay put, whereas mine is fairly snug and I mostly just want something to fill the gap to prevent thin items like credit cards from falling into the abyss.

I have something similar in my car and I keep one for non sticky small trash (receipt, straw cover) on my side and charging cables, power bank and cell phones for my backup camera on the other one.
